On the evening of March 9, 2013, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan attended a charity concert, The Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction, held at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.
The charity concert was held to raise funds for the Great East Japan and Tsunami Orphans organization. The Emperor and Empress along with hundreds of attendees listened to violinist, Mr. Mariko Senju, and Soprano singer, Ms.Yumiko Samejima to name a few.
It is with great regret to announce that Her Royal Highness Princess Lilian of Sweden, The Duchess of Halland has passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at her home in Stockholm. She was 97 years old.
Per the Swedish royal court:
“Born on August 30, 1915, in Wales, Princess Lilian was married to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden’s uncle, His Royal Highness Prince Bertil of Sweden, on December 7, 1976 at the Drottningholm Palace Chapel. Prince Bertil died on 5 January 1997.
Princess Lilian fulfilled a number of duties that were previously the responsibility of Prince Bertil, particularly in the field of sport.”

On Sunday, March 10, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan visited the Armenian Relief Society in Jebel Al Ashrafieh.
According to the Jordan News Agency:
“Her Majesty met with the society’s board members including Vice Chairman, Arsineh Jambazian, who briefed the Queen on the different services the society provides to empower the Jordanian community and women in specific.
Queen Rania then met members of the society’s general assembly and congratulated the women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The Armenian Relief Society aims at preserving the cultural identity of Jordan’s Armenians, improving the educational, social health and welfare of the community as well as encouraging citizens to be more involved in public service and other local organizations that support local communities.”
