(VIDEOS) TRHs Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg Begin Their State Visit to Portugal.

On Wednesday, May 11, 2022, Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg began their two-day state visit to Lisbon, Portugal at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Portugal, His Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

Upon their arrival at the Praça do Imperio in Lisbon, Their Royal Highnesses were warmly welcomed by President Rebelo de Sousa and other government officials. After participating in the inspection of the Guards of Honor, and the national anthems were played Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa were ushered into Belem Presidential Palace. Whilst there the royal couple signed the guest book, held a photo-op for the press and held a meeting with President Rebelo de Sousa.

In the evening, President Rebelo de Sousa hosted a gala state dinner in honor of their royal guests.

News Regarding HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg.

On May 4, 2022, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg was a guest of Mr. Térence Jarosz’s (from RTL 5Minutes) podcast entitled, Vous avez comme un accent.

In the interview, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa tells the story of her life beginning in Cuba, then the United States, then Switzerland, and eventually in Luxembourg. She also talks about her family, her meeting with Grand Duke Henri, and other important moments in her life. 

The Grand Duchess also discusses her work in the humanitarian field, specifically, her commitment to the organization, Stand Speak Rise Up. The aim of the organization is to fight against sexual violence in sensitive areas, in particular, rape as a weapon of war.

On May 7, 2022, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa participated in RTL Luxembourg’s 20th Edition of Télévie, a telethon fundraising event for Cancer and Leukemia research, in Mertzig, Luxembourg. According to the Cour Grand-Ducale, prior to “…acting as telephone operator alongside other volunteers to take pledge calls…” the lovely grand duchess met with hundreds of volunteers, patients, families, and staff.

TRHs Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg View the Project, Moving Lusitalia.

On Monday, April 25, 2022, Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg attended the opening of the collaborative project entitled, Moving Lusitalia, in Dudelange.

Moving Lusitalia is a collaborative project — essentially Public History — within the framework of Esch 2022: European Capital of Culture and developed by the Documentation Center on Human Migrations (CDMH) in Luxembourg.

The Moving Lusitalia exhibition is devoted to the history of the “Little Italy” district in Dudelange, Luxembourg. The exhibition showcases:

“…recorded personal experiences, documents, and objects provided by its inhabitants, evocations of the Italian periods (between 1880 and 1970) or Portuguese (between 1960 and the 2000s). Since its creation, the district has been transformed by various migratory flows, mainly linked to the rise and then the decline of the steel industry. The Italy Quarter has since become a low-cost housing area, new ways of life are taking shape and new communities are settling there. Over the decades, multiculturalism and living together have taken root.”

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg renewed her support and commitment to the Fondation Autisme Luxembourg on the occasion of World Autism Day.

The lovely Grand Duchess Maria Teresa has been High Patron of the Fondation Autisme Luxembourg since 2018.

On Saturday, March 26, 2022, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg sent a video message of support to those who are participating in the 2022 Relais Pour la Vie (Relay for Life).

The Relay for Life is a two-day race that raises money for the Fondation Cancer de Luxembourg. The Grand Duchess is the Honorary President of the foundation.

(VIDEO) HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa Participates in the Virtual Conference, Femina Vox: Faire Entendre la Voix des Femmes.

On the evening of Monday, March 7, 2022, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, as the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, participated in the virtual conference, Femina Vox: Faire Entendre la Voix des Femmes.

The event was hosted and organized by Ms. Guila Clara Kessous, Professor and Researcher at Harvard University, UNESCO Artist for Peace, and Ambassador for Peace of the Universal Circle of Ambassadors for Peace (Geneva).

Femina Vox was also held under the high patronage of the UNESCO and the Sorbonne Université.

The Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg Host a Reception at the Palace. Plus, News Regarding Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.

This afternoon at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg, T.R.H.s Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa along with Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume hosted a reception for participants in humanitarian aid missions as well as operations of peacekeeping from the Luxembourg Army and the Grand Duchy police.

Also this afternoon, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa attended a Christmas concert benefiting the SOS Children’s Village in Luxembourg.
