On the evening of March 23, 2013, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover, Ms. Charlotte Casiraghi and Mr. Pierre Casiraghi attended the 2013 Bal de la Rose held in the Salle des Ètolies at the Sporting Monte-Carlo.
Per Monte-Carlo SBM:
“This year, Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover, president of the Fondation Princesse Grace, has asked her friend Karl Lagerfeld to add his special touch to the Bal de la Rose du Rocher in honor of the 150th anniversary of the SBM.
Karl Lagerfeld’s first reaction? “Let’s have a ‘Belle et Pop gala!” He has chosen the strong contrast between a typically 1900 ‘Belle époque’ ball and a decidedly ‘Pop!’ end to the evening.
As a tribute to Maestro Louis Frosio, violinists greeted the guests in the hall of the Sporting Monte-Carlo. Behind trompe l’œil balustrades, the walls were covered in postcards from yesteryear.
The guests will arrived via the stage which was decorated with a backdrop representing the Place du Casino de Monte-Carlo in 1900. The décor of the Salle des Etoiles was reminiscent of the architecture of the Casino and the Jardin d’Hiver – created by the Ecole Eiffel – in the Hôtel Hermitage.
The tables were covered in cotton sateen printed with gaming table motifs, dice and multi-colored special “Bal de la Rose” chips. Gold and silver timbales were filled with red Baccara roses, peonies and poppies.
Mr. Stéphane Bern presented the tombola which boasts numerous luxurious prizes. The Bal de la Rose du Rocher brought alive the magic and richness of the history of the Société des Bains de Mer.”
Guests were entertained this evening with performances by singer Rita Ora, rapper Theophilus London, DJ Caroline de Maigret and the Prague Philharmonic.
