On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain along with Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias and Infanta Elena participated in the Día de la Banderita de la Cruz Roja Española (day of the flag of the Spanish Red Cross).

The Día de la Banderita de la Cruz Roja Española is the:

“… largest source of revenue for the Spanish Red Cross covering their charity projects. It has been held for over one hundred years and traditionally is  attended by the royal family.  Volunteers encourage citizens to donate money to the Red Cross.   

The funds raised in the Día de la Banderita will go to Llamamiento de Ayuda ‘Ahora + Que Nunca’ which aims to broaden the social care and assist more than 300,000 people who are in an extremely vulnerable situation due to the current socio-economic crisis.”
