On Monday, September 24, 2012, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal arrived at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, Zambia to begin her four-day visit to the African nation as part of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Upon her arrival the princess was greeted by various government officials as well as the British High Commissioner to Zambia, Mr. James Thornton. Afterward, she met with the former President of Zambia, Mr. Kenneth Kaunda, at the University Teaching Hospital. Mr. Kaunda was rushed to the hospital several days ago for “a high fever and suspected malaria.” Thankfully, Mr. Kaunda is recovering quite well.
The princess also had a chance to meet with Acting President, Mr. Alexander Chikwanda, and visited the charity Fountain of Hope. In the evening the princess attended a gala dinner “… hosted by the Government of Zambia and a Garden Party given by the British High Commissioner.”
