His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco in Monterey, CA.

On September 26, 2012, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco arrived in Monterey, California to participate in the 2012 BLUE Ocean Film Festival’s Conservation Summit.

The panel discussion, held inside the De Anza ballroom at the Portola Hotel, included several well-known environmentalists including Dr. Sylvia Earle, Ms. Celine Cousteau, Dr. Greg Stone and Dr. Jane Lubchenco.

The theme of the discussion: “Sustaining a Healthy Ocean: How Are We Doing, REALLY?”

“Numerous ocean conservation initiatives are going on all around the world.  Are we making a difference? Leaders in Global Ocean Conservation, Governance, Advocacy and Exploration come together to address this question. These thought-leaders provide us with their insight and personal assessment of the current state of the ocean, the progress we are making and the challenges that lay ahead for securing a healthy ocean and future.”

On September 26, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain presided over the opening of the 2012/2013 academic year at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in Madrid.

 

During today’s event His Majesty unveiled a new plaque as well as gave an encouraging speech to the students.

On September 26, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias were in Cádiz to attend the opening of the XXV Asamblea General del Consejo de Municipios y Regiones de Europa (CEMR) held at the Palacio de Congresos de Cádiz.

“The Asamblea General del Consejo de Municipios y Regiones de Europa (CEMR) is the largest organization of local authorities in Europe. Its members are 55 national associations of towns, cities and regions from 40 European countries. Overall, are associations representing more than 100,000 local and regional authorities. CEMR is the European branch of Cities and Local Governments, World Organization of local authorities.

The aim of CEMR is two-fold: to influence European legislation on behalf of local and regional authorities and provide a platform for exchanges between its member associations, their elected representatives and experts.”

His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium Visits the A&S Energy Company. (VIDEO)

On September 26, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium visited the A&S Energy company in Oostrozebeke.  The purpose of his visit was to participate in a working meeting with:

“… experts and industry representatives on the theme of market development of green energy and its integration into the global energy market. 

This visit took place as part of a series of visits by the prince devoted to Belgian companies active in the fields of renewable energy, sustainable development and new technologies.”

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Visits EUROJUST.

On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands visited EUROJUST (the European Union’s Judicial Cooperation Unit) in Den Haag.

Upon her arrival Her Majesty was greeted by the President of EUROJUST, Ms. Michèle Coninsx as well as various staff members.  Her Majesty also met the “… Vice-Presidents, 27 members of EUROJUST, attended a presentation which informed the queen regarding the work of EUROJUST.”
