NorwayOn Tuesday, December 10, 2013, Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway attended the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony held at the Oslo Rådhus in Oslo.

The winner of Nobel Peace Prize went to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Monarchs and Royals Gather to Remember the Late Nelson Mandela. (VIDEOS)

On a rainy December 10, 2013, thousands gathered at the First National Bank (FNB) Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa to attend a memorial service for the late Nelson Mandela.  The former South African president and Nobel Peace Prize winner passed away on December 5, 2013, at the age of 95.

Monarch and royals from around the world attended the moving service including His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan accompanied by the former Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark accompanied by the Prime Minister of Denmark, Ms. Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco accompanied by her Lady-in-Waiting, Princess Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium accompanied by the Prime Minister of Belgium, Mr. Elio Di Rupo, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands accompanied by the Dutch Foreign Minister, Mr. Frans Timmermans, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan accompanied by the Prime Minister of Jordan, Mr. Abdullah Ensour, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias accompanied by the Prime Minister of Spain, Mr. Mariano Rajoy, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden accompanied by the Prime Minister of Sweden, Mr. Fredrik Reinfeldt, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway accompanied by the Prime Minister of Norway, Ms. Erna Solberg.

The late Nelson Mandela will be laid to rest on Sunday, December 15, 2013.  Royals attending the funeral service include His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco to name a few.

According to the newspaper, Bournemouth Echo, the princess viewed the “…college’s new £2.8m hydrotherapy pool…” as well as met with staff, and volunteers.

On the evening of December 10, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden and His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip of Sweden attended the 2013 Nobel Prize ceremony held at the Stockholms Konserthus.

Here are the winners of the 2013 Nobel Prize:

The Nobel Prize in Literature went to Ms. Alice Munro

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to Mr. Martin Karplus, Mr. Michael Levitt, and Mr. Arieh Warshel.

The Nobel Prize in Physics went to Mr. François Englert and Mr. Peter W. Higgs.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine went to Mr. James E. Rothman, Mr. Randy Schekman and Mr. Thomas C. Südhof

The 2013 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel went to Mr. Eugene F. Fama, Mr. Lars Peter Hansen and Mr. Robert J. Shiller

After the ceremony, the royal family, the Nobel Prize winners, and hundreds of guests attended the traditional Nobel Prize gala banquet held at the Stadshuset in Stockholm.

MathildeOn December 10, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived at the Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire in Brussels to view the exhibition, Henry van de Velde: Passion – Fonction – Beauté.

Organized by the Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire in collaboration with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar the exhibition is a:

“…chronological survey of the life and work of this multi-facetted artist, based on a never previously seen assembly of works of art and a multitude of documents, including photographs and letters.”

The exhibition will be open to the public until January 12, 2014.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Opens the New Barnardo’s Headquarters. (VIDEO)

On December 10, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall officially opened the new Barnardo’s children’s charity headquarters in Barkingside.

After the opening Her Majesty and the duchess met with staff, toured the new facility, and “…helped to decorate a Christmas tree with a pair of specially-made royal baubles…” according to ITV News.

Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias Presides Over the Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes. (VIDEO)

On Tuesday, December 10, Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias presided over the Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes held at Palacio Real de El Pardo in Madrid. 

According to the Spanish royal court this award recognizes:

“…individuals and organizations that have excelled in the field of artistic and cultural creation or have rendered notable service in the promotion, development and dissemination of art and culture and conservation of artistic heritage.”
