It was announced by Kensington Palace that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has delivered a healthy baby boy weighing 8pounds 6 ounces at 4:24 London time.
His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge was present during the birth.
Mother and child are doing well and will remain in the hospital overnight.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales have been informed of the birth and are delighted according to Clarence House.
His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales released a statement this evening upon hearing the news of the birth of the new prince:
“Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandson. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.
Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.”
The Duke of Cambridge also released a brief statement to the press saying, “We could not be happier!”

His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex arrived in the seaside town of Torquay in county Devon this afternoon to official open the newly restored Torquay Academy.
On July 22, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan participated in a meeting with the “…committee in charge if developing the Foster Care Guidebook. Her Majesty also toured a foster home, run by Al Hussein Social Institute, and met with a foster family in Amman.”
A day after his investiture as king of the Belgians His Majesty King Philippe held an audience with Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo at the Palais de Bruxelles.
His Majesty also attended two receptions at the Palais this afternoon where he received members of the Judiciaire and the Cour des Comptes as well as the Présidents des Conseils and the Gouvernement des Communautés and des Régions according to the Belgian royal court.
And, finally, new official photos of Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium were released this morning by the Belgian royal court. The five images were shot at Château de Laeken on July 15, 2013, by photographer, Ms. Marie-Jo Lafontaine, in collaboration with Ms. Marina Cox.
On Monday, July 22, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan visited the Public Security Department in Amman, Jordan.
During the visit General Tawfiq Tawalbeh informed His Majesty on the “…efforts to develop performance of staff of police units especially those who work on problem solving crimes…” according to Petra News.
Later in the afternoon, His Majesty arrived in Al Yasmeen to officially open the new Forensic Science Laboratory Department building. During his tour of the facility His Majesty was informed about the “…role of criminology in supporting investigations and on major cases that have been solved with the use of modern technology…”
Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway arrived at the Oslo Domkirke this afternoon to attend a service in remembrance of the victims of the July 22, 2011, terrorist attacks.
Norwegian-born, Anders Behring Breivik, the perpetrator behind the attacks, blew up two government buildings in Oslo killing six people. Breivik then went on a mass shooting spree on the island of Utøya killing 69 innocent people.
