On Monday, May 18, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh attended the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London.
Other members of the British royal family including Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Walesand The Duchess of Cornwall as well as Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex also attended the world-famous flower show. Earlier in the day, HRH Prince Harry of Wales visited the Sentebale, Hope in Vulnerability, Garden which he later proudly gave his grandmother, HM Queen Elizabeth II, a tour.
On Monday, May 18, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan arrived at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in (JNGFA) Amman to officially open the special exhibition, Hussein Madi in Amman, by well-known Lebanese artist, Mr. Hussein Madi.
During today’s opening Her Majesty viewed over 115 works — paintings, giclée prints, and sculptures — donated to the JNGFA by Mr. Madi and “…was briefed about the art pieces by the artist himself…” according to Petra News.
On Monday, May 18, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands attended Professor Javier A. Couso’s inaugural lecture held inside the University Hall at the Universiteit Utrecht. Professor Couso was recently “…appointed to the Prince Claus Chair of Development and Equity…” according to a press release.
Whilst at the Universiteit Utrecht Professor Couso will teach “…comparative law research in collaboration with scholars. [He will also be] contributing to the strategic research theme of ‘Institutions’. He will be based at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance (REBO) at the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM).”
On the morning of May 18, 2015, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain held various audiences at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid.
The reigning couple met with representatives from the Spanish magazine, Semena. The well-known publishing house is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year. Later, Their Majesties met with members of the Fundación Comité Español de los Colegios del Mundo Unido and representatives from several companies who are collaborating with the Alianza para la Formación Profesional Dual, an initative of the Fundación Bertelsmann, la Fundación Princesa de Girona, la Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales (CEOE), and the Cámara de Comercio de España.
On Monday, May 18, 2015, His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales visited the Sentebale, Hope in Vulnerability, Garden during the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show at Royal Hospital Chelsea in London.
According to the RHS official website, the beautiful garden, designed by Mr. Matt Keightley, was:
“…inspired by Sentebale’s Mamohato Children’s Centre, an incredible facility due to open in 2015, that helps Lesotho’s vulnerable children, the Sentebale garden will transport visitors to the landscape of Lesotho in Southern Africa. Bright colours dance through the garden linking its hard landscaping elements with Lesotho’s native environmental characteristics. The garden is designed to raise awareness of Sentebale’s mission to tackle the stigma of HIV in adolescents, helping to provide access to care and education and providing psychosocial support.”

Legendary writer, producer, and director, Mr. Garry Marshall, is set to direct the upcoming film about Monaco’s first ever Olympic bobslegih team entitled, Royal Ice. Mr. Marshall’s credits include Pretty Woman, Frankie and Johnny, Runaway Bride, The Princess Diaries (including the sequel), Beaches, Happy Days, and of course the mega-hit television show, Joanie Loves Chachi.
Anyway, Royal Ice, originally written in collaboration with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Mr. Marc Thomas, will have rewrites by Mr. Marshall. Production is expected to begin sometime in November 2015.
In an interview with trade paper, The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. Sergei Bespalov, Co-CEO of Aldamisa Entertainment which will produce the film, Royal Ice, notes that the story is an:
“…entertaining adventure about teamwork, big dreams and courage, featuring thrilling footage of the sport of bobsledding, as well as a great love story with some close-up looks at the world of Monaco’s royal princely family. It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with the Prince of Monaco and Garry Marshall on the same project…”
In 1987, a then HSH Hereditary Prince Albert II of Monaco established the Fédération Monégasque de Bobsleigh. Unfortunately, the team has never won an Olympic Gold medal. Perhaps one day they will! 🙂
