HRH The Prince of Wales Completes His Summer Tour of Wales.

POWOn July 5, 2013, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales completed his five-day summer tour of Wales with a visit to the “…historic 16th century pub, Prince of Wales Inn, at Kenfig, Bridgend…” according to the newspaper Wales Online.

Whilst at the pub the prince drank tea, mingled with locals including members of the Tuesday Club, and unveiled a plaque marking his visit to the Prince of Wales Inn.

Earlier in the day the prince, as president of the Prince’s Foundation for Building Community, toured the housing development, Coed Darcy.

TIMs Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan Visit Rikuzentakata. (VIDEOS)

On Friday, July 5, 2013, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan continued their visit to the Iwate Prefecture in northeastern Japan. In the morning, Their Imperial Majesties visited the city of Rikuzentakata which was left in ruins after the March 11, 2011, tsunami caused by the 9.0 earthquake off the coast of Tōhoku.

Whilst in the city Their Imperial Majesties met with 400 people who are living in a temporary housing complex and visited (actually viewed from their car) the well-known miracle pine tree.”  The emperor and empress also visited a factory in Ofunato just north of Rikuzentakata.

In other news, the newspaper, Japan Times, reports that Her Imperial Majesty Empress Michiko has translated a “…collection of poems by Michio Mado into English and was published last month in two volumes…”  Click here for more information about this latest news.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall Visits a Cancer Caring Center in Swansea, Wales.

camillaOn Thursday, July 4, 2013, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall arrived at the Singleton Hospital in Swansea, Wales to visit Maggie’s Cancer Caring Center, a place which provides “…support for people affected by cancer, their families, carers and friends to empower people to live with, through and beyond cancer.”

During her visit the lovely duchess was given a tour of the center where she also spent time with various patients and their families.  Prior to her visit to Maggie’s Cancer Caring Center, The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Swansea Loans and Savings Abertawe (LASA) Credit Union according to Clarence House.
