(VIDEO) Members of the Jordanian Royal Family Celebrate 76 Years of Independence.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan attended an official ceremony marking Jordan’s 76th Independence Day held at Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman.

The ceremony was also attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Prince Hasham bin Abdullah II, Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein as well as a number of Royal family members, senior officials and officers, and members of the diplomatic corps.

According to the Hashemite Royal Court during yesterday’s celebrations, His Majesty King Abdullah II bestowed “…royal medals on a number of distinguished Jordanian institutions and individuals, in appreciation of their services for the country and its people.”

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan Visits the Jordan River Designs Showroom.

On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan visited the Jordan River Designs Showroom in Amman. The purpose of the visit was to follow up on the Jordan River Foundation’s (JRF) social enterprises, including the latest Jordan River Designs and Al Karma Kitchen projects.

During Her Majesty’s meeting with the JRF Director-General, Ms. Enaam Barrishi and other staff members, Her Majesty Queen Rania received a briefing on the achievements and future plans of Jordan River Designs and Al Karma Kitchen, including its efforts to begin exporting food items to regional markets abroad, and expand the number of female beneficiaries employed by these projects. 

Her Majesty also met with women working in Al Karma Kitchen, an empowerment initiative that produces and sells a variety of food items prepared by local community women. Her Majesty expressed her admiration for the women’s hard work as they shared their success stories and the challenges they have met along the way. 

“It makes me so happy to hear people say that your food is just as good as homemade food and even better,” Her Majesty told the women. “That’s just proof that you put your heart into your work!” She added.  

Her Majesty Queen Rania also noted that:

“…each beneficiary represents a model of the successful and hardworking Jordanian woman who supports her family and insists on being part of society’s fabric of productive women. I would like you to be just as proud of yourselves as I am of you, and of everything you do for your families. Your success paves the way for the empowerment of many other women in Jordan..”

Through its series of social enterprises, the Jordan River Foundation hopes to revive traditional cooking and Bedouin-inspired arts and crafts. The foundation currently provides thousands of Jordanian women with livelihoods and a stable source of income, and in 2021 alone it managed to create over 660 employment opportunities through initiatives like Al Karma Kitchen and Jordan River Designs.

TMs King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan Receive the Path to Peace Award in New York City.

On the evening of Monday, May 9, 2022, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan received the Path to Peace Award presented by the Path to Peace Foundation affiliated with the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations.

Their Majesties received the award in appreciation of their role in promoting interfaith harmony and dialogue, as well as bolstering prospects for peace, and in recognition of Jordan’s humanitarian efforts to host refugees.

According to a press release, via the Hashemite royal court, in his acceptance speech His Majesty stated:

“Our journey on the path to peace must travel through Jerusalem. Billions of people around the world hold that Holy City in their hearts. It is home to our prayers and home to our hopes.

As Custodian of its Muslim and Christian Holy Sites, I say to you all, my friends, that upholding the historical and legal status quo at these holy places is essential for peace, for harmony, and freedom of worship. Jerusalem should be an anchor for peace and coexistence, not for fear and violence.”

His Majesty also urged the international community to “…help the Palestinians and the Israelis get back to work to end the crisis to reach just and lasting peace that can provide a future of hope for both parties, based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side-by- side with Israel in peace and security.”

[Accepting the award] on behalf of all Jordanians who uphold the historic values and noble heritage of our land, by living and working in mutual respect, by sustaining Jordan as an oasis of peace, and by reaching out in compassion to those in need, and offering sanctuary to millions of refugees over the years.”

On Friday, May 13, His Majesty King Abdullah II will meet with the President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden, at the White House in Washington, D.C. The meeting will cover the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, and ways to bolster it across all sectors, as well as the latest regional and international developments.

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan Hosts an Iftar at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Rym al-Ali of Jordan, Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal of Jordan, Her Royal Highness Princess Wijdan of Jordan along with several other Jordanian princesses, hosted an Iftar for accomplished young women held at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman.

(VIDEO) Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan Gives a Speech During Day Two of the Foreign Policy Virtual Climate Summit.

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, Her Majesty gave a pre-recorded speech during the second day of the Foreign Policy Virtual Climate Summit. Held under the theme, The Transition to Net Zero: Making Good on COP26 Commitments, summit aims to advance the global climate conversation and further global environmental commitments. Streamed online free of charge, the virtual event features a diverse lineup of leaders, experts, and environmental activists from around the world.

In her speech, Her Majesty noted the “alarming” threat to our planet posed by feedback loops that accelerate global warming, such as record-high atmospheric methane levels caused by increased tropical rainfall.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan, accompanied by His Majesty King Abdullah II, hosted an Iftar for a group of accomplished youth representatives at Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman, Jordan.

During the Iftar, Their Majesties mingled with their honored guests, who are active in the fields of entrepreneurship, media, social welfare, and volunteer work. Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania also expressed their unwavering pride in Jordan’s diligent youth and their myriad of accomplishments.

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan Meets with Women at the Famous Al-Karak Castle for Iftar.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan met with a group of women for Iftar at the famous Al-Karak Castle in Jordan.

According to a press release, Her Majesty The Queen where she commended the women for their contributions to local society who are active in the fields of education, social welfare, culture, volunteer work, and charitable efforts.

After the breaking of fast (Iftar), Her Majesty expressed her warm wishes for the holy month of Ramadan to the accomplished women in attendance and their families, adding that she has sorely missed these pleasant gatherings.

” ‘I am very happy to be here during the first week of Ramadan, surrounded by my sisters, the devoted women of Al Karak,’ Queen Rania said.

‘Ramadan is always a month of goodwill, blessings, and reconnecting with loved ones, but this year it feels even more special than usual – perhaps because we have been unable to get together for Iftar like this for the past two years,’ she added.

In turn, the Governor of Al Karak, Mohammad Fayez, thanked Her Majesty for her work to uplift the lives of people across the country. He went on to highlight the positive feedback of a group of women participating in an Umrah mission organized by the Queen this Ramadan.

A total of 550 women hailing from across Jordan will perform the lesser pilgrimage to Mecca as part of the mission throughout the holy month, the first group of whom left Jordan on Tuesday.”
