On November 16, 1836, David Laʻamea Kamanakapuʻu Mahinulani Nalaiaehuokalani Lumialani Kalākaua was born, and in honor of the late king the Friends of ‘Iolani Palace and the Royal Guard of the Hawai’i Air National Guard celebrated his 176th birthday this past Friday.
On November 20, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium was in the municipality of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe to visit the rehabilitation centers, L’Etoile Polaire and De Poolster. The centers are “… for children with hearing and developmental disabilities.”
President Gašparovič is in the Netherlands on a two-day state visit. The purpose of the visit is to “… continue the good bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Slovakia and to deepen the intensive trade relationships [between the two countries] …” according to RVD.
After the official welcoming ceremony, held at the Koninklijk Paleis in Amsterdam, President Gašparovič along with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte “… laid a wreath at the National Monument on the Dam …”
Later in the afternoon, Her Majesty and President Gašparovič “… toured the restoration workshop at the Rijksmuseum …” In the evening, Her Majesty hosted a state banquet in honor of President Gašparovič’s visit.
On November 19, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain along with Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias welcomed the President of Brazil, Ms. Dilma Rousseff, to the Palacio Real de Madrid.
After a private meeting with President Rousseff, His Majesty along with Her Majesty Queen Sofia as well as prince and princess of Asturias hosted a luncheon at the palace in honor of the president’s brief visit.
Guests in attendance during the gala included Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover, His Serene Highness Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein, Andrea and Pierre Casiraghi, local government officials as well as Monégasque VIPs.
Earlier in the day, the princely family attended a medal and award ceremony in the courtyard of the Palais Princier, and watched a military parade in front of the palais. Afterward, there was an official luncheon held inside the Salle du Trône in celebration of Fête Nationale 2012.
