On November 16, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands attended the re-opening of the Drents Museum in Assen. The museum was closed for almost a year due to much-needed renovations as well as to construct a new underground exhibition wing designed by architect, Erick van Egeraat.
After speeches were made, dancing and the Queen banged a giant gong (watch the video and you will know what I am talking about) she toured the inaugural exhibit entitled, The Golden Age of China. This exhibit highlights Chinese society during the Tang Dynasty which began in 618 through 907 A.D.
