On June 19, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh along with other members of the British royal family attended Day 3 of Royal Ascot held at the Ascot Racecourse in Ascot, England.
On June 19, 2014, His Royal Highness Prince Laurent of Belgium visited the Centre Hospitalier Neurologique William Lenox to attend the launch of a project which “…enables children to receive therapeutic customizable dolls which is a way for doctors to show children what kind of medical care they provide…” according to AFP News.
On Wednesday, June 18, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan attended the launch of Oasis500′s new investment track, Creative Industries Fund, which “…support[s] and invest[s] in artistic and cultural entrepreneurship…” according to Petra News.
The newspaper goes on to note that the:
“…fund will target talented entrepreneurs in all governorates of the kingdom, and aims to help them transform their ideas into fruitful projects that can contribute to the Jordanian economy.
Her Majesty also inaugurated and toured the Oasis500, ‘Entrepreneurial Talent Exhibition’, an exhibition which included 20 artistic creations by 20 different Jordanian entrepreneurs. Her Majesty reviewed the ideas behind the different projects which ultimately aim to harvest, through the medium of arts and culture, sustainable and income generating projects that serve economic development in Jordan.
Queen Rania met with the artists who participated in the exhibition and expressed her admiration of their creations, adding that their talent and thirst for success is evident in their work.”
On Wednesday, June 18, 2014, His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan began his one-week state visit to Switzerland. The purpose of the visit is to celebrate the 150th anniversary of bilateral and diplomatic ties between Japan and Switzerland.
According to Kyodo News, yesterday the crown prince visited the city of Bern:
“…a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the capital’s mayor. He also visited a building where theoretical physicist Albert Einstein lived in 1905, when he presented a paper on special relativity, as well as a base for an emergency helicopter rescue unit known as REGA.”
This morning, Crown Prince Naruhito met with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Mr. Didier Burkhalter, in Neuchâtel. After the official welcoming ceremony and reception the crown prince and Mr. Burkhalter arrived at the Museum of Ethnography where they viewed the exhibition, Imagine Japan.
On Thursday, June 19, 2014, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain was officially sworn in as Spain’s new king in front of Congreso de los Diputados (Congress of Deputies) in Madrid.
Prior to the ceremony His Majesty received the red sash of Captain General of the Armed Forces from his father, King Juan Carlos I of Spain, at Palacio de la Zarzuela.
