On June 17, 2014, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands presided over the 2014 Zilveren Anjers van het Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds (Silver Carnations of the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund) award ceremony held at the Koninklijk Paleis in Amsterdam.
According to AFP News, the Silver Carnation Award is, “…presented yearly since 1950 to individuals who have contributed to culture or [to] the protection of nature.”

On Monday, June 16, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco participated in the opening of the Our Ocean conference, hosted by the United States Department of State, in Washington, D.C.
According to the official website for the conference the two-day event:
“…will bring together individuals, experts, practitioners, advocates, lawmakers, and the international ocean and foreign policy communities to gather lessons learned, share the best science, offer unique perspectives, and demonstrate effective actions.”
On Monday, June 16, 204, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh accompanied by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge, His Royal Highness The Duke of York, His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and other members of the British royal family attended the Most Noble Order of the Garter service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
On Tuesday, June 17, 2014, Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan along with Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko of Japan, Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako of Japan, and Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Takahito and Princess Yuriko of Mikasa attended the Renso no Gi funeral service helf at the Toshimagaoka Imperial Cemetery in Tokyo for the late His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura. The late prince passed away on June 8, 2014, of heart failure at the age of 66.
According to the newspaper, Japan Times, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan, “…in line with custom did not attend the funeral but sent messengers including the grand steward of the Imperial Household Agency.”
