On Monday, November 18, 2013, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived on the beautiful island of Curaçao for a one-day tour.
The day began with a welcoming ceremony hosted by the governor of Curaçao, Lucille George-Wout, at Government Square in Willemstad. Soon, Their Majesties attended a meeting with the Prime Minister of Curaçao, Ivar Asjes, and with other government officials.
In the afternoon, Their Majesties visited the Marnix College and Marnix FO-school, toured the University of Curaçao where they met with students and staff, opened the Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity Foundation’s new building, completed a walkabout in the district of Otrobanda, and attended a gala reception in the Brionplein square.
