According to the Danish royal court the purpose of the visit is to strengthen bilateral ties in the areas of health, agriculture, and climate-friendly technology between Mexico and Denmark.

Soon, they were off to visit the Museo Nacional de Antropología where they viewed several exhibits.  Two hours later the crown prince couple met with the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto and First Lady Angélica Rivera de Peña, at Los Pinos.

Later in the afternoon, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visited the Papalote Museo del Niño, and then met with the mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Ángel Mancera Espinosa, where he gave the crown prince couple the keys to the city.
