On November 11, 2013, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium arrived at the Colonne du Congrès in Brussels to attend the Commémoration de l’Armistice ceremony which to honors the thousands of soldiers who died during World War I and World War II. During the ceremony the king placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
In the evening, His Majesty attended a solemn ceremony held at the Eglise Saint-Jacques sur Coudenberg.
On Monday, November 11, 2013, Her Imperial Majesty Empress Michiko of Japan accompanied by Her Imperial Highness Princess Kiko of Japan and Her Imperial Highness Princess Akiko of Mikasa attended an evening concert held inside the Tōkagakudō (Peach Blossom Music Hall) at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
During last week’s participation in the 5th Meeting of the Parties to Agreement on ACCOBAMS in Tangier, Morocco, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco had a chance to take a break from his hectic schedule to see some of the sights in the historic city. The sovereign prince was given a guided tour by local historian, Mr. Rachid Taferssiti.
In other news, it was announced that the President of France, François Hollande, will make an official visit to Monaco on Thursday, November 14, 2013. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen ties between Monaco and France.
During the visit the sovereign prince will host a working luncheon in honor of President Hollande’s visit as well as sign “…five partnership agreements in fields of scientific research and the environment…” at the Musée Océanographique de Monaco according to the Palais Princier.
On November 11, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at the Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ in Amsterdam to preside over the 2013 Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Prijs.
According to RVD, the winner of the award, plus cash worth 75,000 Euros, went to “…Piet Oudolf for his achievements in the field of gardening and landscape design.”
On Monday, November 11, 2013, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and His Royal Highness Prince Laurent of Belgium participated in the Last Post ceremony in Ypres, Belgium.
The ceremony commemorates the hundreds of thousands soldiers who died during World War I.
