On June 25, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan held an important meeting with the European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, and the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Emma Bonino, in Amman.
According to Petra News, discussions focused on issues related to the Middle East and the Syrian crisis which:
“…Jordan is shouldering the burdens that are both heavy and increasing while straining its limited resources and infrastructures as a result of the influx of Syrian refugees, and urged the international community to continue assuming its responsibilities to support the country’s assistance to refugees…”
On the morning of June 25, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Claire of Belgium arrived in Spa in the province of Liège to spend a day with 50 young Cancer patients at Camp Tournesol.
Upon her arrival the princess was warmly welcomed by staff, doctors, and of course the children attending the camp. Throughout the day Princess Claire played games with the children and congratulated the Fondation Contre le Cancer for “…organizing Camp Tournesol for the past 25 years.”
This morning the royal couple toured the WrightBus factory “…where new ultra-low carbon double-decker London buses are being built…” according to the Associated Press.
Afterward, The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Broughshane Library and Nursery School as well as the Antrim Area Hospital. Meanwhile, The Prince of Wales “…met with crowds outside Larne town hall. He travelled there to show his support for local farmers who suffered badly from adverse weather earlier this year…” according to the BBC News.

Well, it is official. The super awesome His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani of Qatar has retired, err, stepped down as the Emir of Qatar. So, who’s replacing him? His son… His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
According to His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, via a press conference, the reason for his abdication was pretty simple. According to the Emir “…it was time for a new generation to takeover… This is the beginning of a new era in which a young leadership will hold the banner…”
According to the Qatar News Agency, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will “…receive citizens from 8 AM to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 26 to swear allegiance to the new Emir…”
So, congrats Your Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani! Good luck, dude. And, don’t screw up. 🙂
