Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Participates in the Annual International Meeting of the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor. (VIDEO)

Princess Maxima 2011Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at the Mövenpick Hotel in Amsterdam to participate in the annual International Meeting of the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP).

According to the official website for CGAP the mission of the organization is to:

“…work toward a world in which everyone has access to the financial services they need to improve their lives.  CGAP develops innovative solutions for financial inclusion through practical research and active engagement with financial service providers, policy makers, and funders. Established in 1995 and housed at the World Bank, CGAP combines a pragmatic approach to market development with an evidence-based advocacy platform to advance poor people’s access to finance.”

During today’s important meeting Her Majesty, in her capacity as the United Nations Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, gave a speech in front of “… various representatives from 35 public and private organizations…” that are members of Consultative Group to Assist the Poor.

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands in Den Haag. (VIDEO)

WAKingOn Wednesday, May 15, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands arrived in Den Haag to officially reopen the newly restored Ministry of Defense.

According to RVD, the restored Ministry of Defense is a massive and modern complex which contains several buildings (also known as the Plein-Kalvermarktcomplex) which dates back to 1938.  Additions were made to the complex 1980.  In 2009, renovations of the complex began in order to“…meet all the modern requirements needed for the Dutch Armed Forces…”

Prior to this morning’s official reopening several speeches were made including one by the Minster of Defense, Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert. After a short presentation about the renovations His Majesty officially reopened the complex, signed the guest book, and was given a tour of the building, which also includes a new high-tech press center.
