camillaHer Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Cobham Community Center in Surrey this morning to help promote Meals on Wheels with the celebrity chefs, The Hairy Bikers.  The purpose of today’s event was to “…revive [the] ‘Meals on Wheels’ services for pensioners…”

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the National Portrait Gallery in London this evening to attend a reception to “…celebrate the work of the charity, The Art Room…” according a press release via Princeofwales.gov.uk.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh Visits County Durham. (VIDEOS)

TheDukeHis Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh arrived in County Durham this afternoon to officially open the newly restored £2.3million Glendene Arts Academy in Easington Colliery according to the newspaper, Hartlepool Mail.  Prior to the opening the duke visited the Langley Park Primary School where he opened the new school garden and unveiled a new plaque commemorating the opening as well as the duke’s visit.

cphaaOn April 24, 2013, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway attended Dignity Day at he Glemmen High School in Fredrikstad.  During today’s visit the crown prince met with students, staff, gave a speech, and generally had a fabulous time.

Afterward, the crown prince visited the company, Wik & Walsøe.  In company, which began in 2006 by friends Ms. Linda Walsøe and Ms. Ragnhild Wik, produces some of the finest porcelain tableware in Norway.  To learn more about Wik & Walsøe as well as to view their unique designs please click here.

His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan Attends the 2013 Japan Prize. (VIDEOS)

His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan attended the 2013 Japan Prize this evening in Tokyo.  Unfortunately, Empress Michiko was unable to attend due to chronic pain in her upper arm and left neck according to the Imperial Household Agency.

The Japan Prize is awarded annually to scientists and engineers from around the world who have made significant contributions to the advancement of science and technology, furthering the cause of peace and prosperity.  The recipients of this year’s prize went to:

“Prof. C. Grant Willson of the University of Texas, Austin and Prof. Jean M. J. Fréchet of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology,  for development of chemically amplified resist polymer materials for innovative semiconductor manufacturing process.  Dr. John Frederick Grassle, Professor Emeritus of Rutgers, State University of New Jersey, for contribution to marine environmental conservation through research on ecology and biodiversity of deep-sea organisms.”

And, finally, on April 23, 2013, Their Imperial Majesties held an audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.  The princess was in Japan for a two-day visit on the occasion of World Malaria Day according to the Belgian royal court.

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Officially Opens the Special Exhibition, Constantijn en Christiaan Huygens: Een Gouden Erfenis. (VIDEO)

BeatrixHer Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands performed her last official engagement as queen this afternoon when she officially open the special exhibition entitled, Constantijn en Christiaan Huygens: Een Gouden Erfenis, at the Grote Kerk in Den Haag.

The exhibition, a private initiative of the Stichting Grote Kerk, Huygensmuseum Hofwijck and Koninklijke Bibliotheek, displays a:

“…combination of political history, art and science, the Huygens Exhibition shows the rewards of looking beyond established boundaries and embracing innovative thinking, the way father and son Huygens did. One of the highlights of the exhibition is the replica of the Oranjezaal in Huis ten Bosch. The architecture and the series of paintings of the Oranjezaal are the culmination of the Dutch arts during the Golden Age. Constantijn Huygens was actively involved in designing its structure.”

The Constantijn en Christiaan Huygens: Een Gouden Erfenis exhibition will be open to the public beginning on April 25-August 28, 2013.  For more information please visit the official website for the exhibition here.
