T.R.H.s Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands Attend the Premiere of the Film ‘Nova Zembla’

On November 21, 2011, T.R.H.s Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands attended the première of the film, Nova Zembla, held at the RAI Theater in Amsterdam.  Also, in attendance were Princess Aimee and Prince Floris as well asPrincess Marilene and Prince Maurits.

The film, directed by Reinout Oerlemans, tells the true story of the:

… legendary failed mission of the late sixteenth century Dutch flotilla trying to find a trading route to Asia across the North Pole. The ship crew, who got stuck in the ice of Nova Zembla and had to survive the dark coldness of winter in the most gruesome of circumstances. source

The film looks pretty good, judging by the official trailer.  Hopefully it will be released in the United States sometime soon.  🙂

T.R.H.s Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg Visit the l’Atert-Lycée Redange. Plus, Other News.

On November 21, 2011, T.R.H.s Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg visited the l’Atert-Lycée Redange in Luxembourg.

After touring the campus grounds, classrooms and workshops the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess participated in a “Q & A” session with the faculty as well as students of the school.  At the end of the day, they had lunch in the cafeteria.

Meanwhile, H.R.H. Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mr. Jeannot Krecké, are currently on a trade mission in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

On Sunday, the Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, along with his delegation, inaugurated the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Abu Dhabi.  Also in attendance was H.R.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan and Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qassimi.

The Embassy, the first Luxembourg Embassy in an Arab country, will be headed by a non-resident ambassador, George Faber.  The opening of the Embassy is placed in the context of a reorganization in the short and medium term the Luxembourg diplomatic network to better represent the interests of the country in a changing international context. It also reflects the commitment of Luxembourg in its efforts to deepen relations with the UAE, as well as to strengthen its presence especially in the Gulf region. source

H.R.H. Princess Mathilde of Belgium Visits Schools Participating in the ‘Journée du Changement’ Campaign (VIDEO)

On November 21, 2011, H.R.H. Princess Mathilde of Belgium was in Eupen and Transinne, Belgium to meet with students from two elementary schools participating in the Journée du Changement (Day of Change) proposed by UNICEF Belgium as part of Journée des Droits de l’Enfant (Day of the Rights of a Child) campaign.

In her capacity as honorary president of UNICEF Belgium, Princess Mathilde spoke with students from the l’Athénée Royal d’Eupen (Royal Athenaeum of Eupen) as well the Transinne elementary schools regarding the importance of education and so forth.

T.R.H.s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark Attend a BBQ and Meet with the Australian Governor-General: Day One Continued (VIDEOS)

On November 20, 2011, T.R.H.s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary continued their official visit to Sydney, Australia.  After visiting the famous Sculpture by the Sea exhibition and a stop by the Curating Cities: Sydney-Copenhagen exhibition project held at the Customs Houses, it was time for a good old fashion Aussie BBQ.

The royal couple, along with their business delegation as well as Australian business representatives, attended a BBQ held at the Royal Australian Navy’s Garden Island base where they dined on “…Tasmanian scallops, lamb and mint sausages, king prawns, Sydney rock oysters, barramundi, marinated Atlantic salmon, King Island beef eye fillet and pavlova with King Island cream.”  

Later in the afternoon, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary participated in a meeting with the Australian Governor-General at Admiralty House.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Attend the 12th Annual ‘No Finish Line’ Charity Race

On November 20, 2011, T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the 12th Annual No Finish Line charity race.  This eight day race raises money for youth in need:

Every kilometre completed, either by running or walking, means 1 euro donated to the nominated charities which include the Cardio-Thorasic Centre in Monaco, Fight AIDS Monaco, Hospital Cheick Zaied in Mauritius and the construction of a new school in Segou in Mali.

This year’s winner of the No Finish Line charity race went to Mr. William Siechel of Scotland.

T.M.s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun of Bhutan Visit Kinkakuji Temple in Japan (VIDEO)

It was a rainy day at the Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto, Japan where Their Majesties King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan stopped by for a visit. The reigning couple also had a chance to visit other fantastic sites in and around Kyoto.
