‘The Last Stuarts’ and ‘The House of Hanover’ Two Great Documentaries by Dr. David Starkey

These two documentaries, The Last Stuarts and The House of Hanover, comes from the British series entitled, Monarchy, hosted by the brilliant historian, Dr. David Starkey.

The Last Stuarts discusses the “…stories of the reigns of William and Mary and Queen Anne, examining not only their achievements and weaknesses, but also those of other key players.”   Click the links below to watch:

The House of Hanover:

In 1714, an obscure German Prince was crowned King George I of Great Britain, signalling the beginning of a new political era that saw the rise of the new role of Prime Minister, and established the pattern of political modernity we are familiar with today. When, in 1789, the Bastille prison in Paris was stormed and the French Revolution began, few in Britain – least of all King George III, who was recovering from one of his bouts of madness – thought that it would lead to a cataclysmic war with France.

The Duke and Duchess Attend the BAFTA ‘Brits to Watch’ Gala Here in L.A.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the BAFTA ‘Brits to Watch’ gala on July 9, 2011 at the Belasco Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.  Of course, in typical L.A. fashion every major Hollywood producer, director, studio head, publicist, second assistant A.D., craft services supervisor, actor, and actress where there to support (actually, let’s be honest here… they just want to be seen) this BAFTA event as well as to pose on the red carpet as if the were  attending the Oscars.

Anyway… to view photos please click here.   Click here to watch a video. Click here to read an article about the event.

Earlier this afternoon the royal couple attended a polo match in beautiful Santa Barbara.  Click here to watch the video from my local L.A. news station.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in L.A.!

Well, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are finally here in Los Angeles and most Angelenos just don’t care (we have other things on our mind like the closure of the 405 Fwy next week, TSOL playing at the Brixton, and other stuff.)   🙂

Anyway, the couple touched down at LAX with throngs of journalists and photographers watching their every move.  Once the couple’s royal feet touched the pavement they were greeted by California Governor, Jerry Brown, L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the British ambassador and consul general and other dignitaries.

Soon, the Duke and Duchess hopped into their black and not so environmentally friendly Land Rover and were then whizzed through the side streets of L.A. via a LAPD police escort (who stopped all traffic annoying everyone in their cars) thus avoiding the 405 Fwy.  Finally, the royal duo arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to attend a conference.

With that… Welcome to L.A., Wills and Kate!  Glad to have you here!   🙂

No.  Those are not my hands, in case you were wondering.
