HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg Celebrates the 1st Anniversary of the Meluxina SuperComputer.

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg accompanied by the Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs and the Minister of the Economy, Mr. Franz Foyet, attended the one-year anniversary celebrations of the MeluXina Supercomputer in Bissen.

The MeluXina Supercomputer new hardware is capable of processing large volumes of data, carrying out thousands of billions of operations per second. The Meluxina supercomputer has a calculating power of 10 petaflops – literally ten million billion operations per second, a number that looks like this:  10,000,000,000,000,000. MeluXina’s performance is one of the top 50 of the world ranking of the 500 most performant supercomputers.

During today’s event, the heir to the Grand Ducal throne was given a tour of the MeluXina’s facility and was informed about the ins and outs of the supercomputer.

On Friday, June 10, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain held an audience at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid met with women who participated in the recent conference, I Congress on Trafficking in Human Beings: How to Make a Hidden Reality Visible.

According to the Spanish royal court, the conference “… was attended by survivors of human trafficking who, after a recovery process, was able to speak out about their experiences.”

In the afternoon, Her Majesty held an audience with representatives from the Alianza Iberoamericana de Enfermedades Raras o Poco Frecuentes (ALIBER).

During the meeting, Her Majesty was informed about the challenges the organization recently had after the publication of the First Study on Social and Health Needs of Groups in Latin America (ENSERio LATAM Study).

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall attended the Commonwealth Reception held at Buckingham Palace in London.

The reception was held to celebrate the Commonwealth Diaspora of the United Kingdom ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda.

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the meeting of the Princess of Girona Foundation Delegate Commission held at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid.

According to the Spanish royal court, during the meeting Their Majesties reviewed a report of the:

“…economic closing of the 2021 financial year and the external audit report and the balance sheet and account of results as of April 30, 2022, the January-May 2022 activity report.”

Their Majesties also reviewed information from:

“…working groups and the activities of the different programs were also assessed, along with the Foundation’s progress during the first months of this year in the implementation of the new Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025.”

On this special day dedicated to the Ocean, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco reminds us of the key issues facing the world’s Ocean and the major meetings that lie ahead, such as the Lisbon Conference (end of June 2022) and COP 15, which will enable the Ocean to be placed at the heart of collective negotiations regarding our future.

“The various deadlines ahead of us must be an opportunity to provide responses adapted to the scale and complexity of the oceans and, above all, must be an opportunity to bring together skills, wills and approaches so that we can collectively respond to the immense challenges facing us. I hope that this day will help us to move forward, so that together we can reconcile humanity and the sea around a more sustainable development model.”

On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco was presented with the very last replica of the Aston Martin DB5 driven by James Bond 007 in the film, Goldfinger, in 1964 at the Palais Princier de Monaco.

The replica car will go on sale at the Top Marques Show, which opens this evening, in Monte-Carlo. The asking price for the Aston Martin DB5 is 3 million Euros. Prince Albert II is Patron of the Top Marques Show.

HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden Continues her Visit to the Netherlands.

On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden continued her visit to the Netherlands. The purpose of her visit is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands.

This morning, Crown Princess Victoria visited the port of Rotterdam. Upon her arrival, the crown princess was welcomed by the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Mr. Allard Castelein, the Mayor of Rotterdam, Mr. Ahmed Aboutaleb, and the Swedish Honorary Consul General in Rotterdam, Mr. Ben Vree.

During her visit, Crown Princess Victoria took a boat ride along the Nieuwe Maze whereupon Mr. Castelein informed the Crown Princess about “…the most important sustainability initiatives in the port of Rotterdam…” according to a press release.

Thereafter, Crown Princess Victoria visited the SAAB-Damen booth at the Undersea Defense Technology Trade Fair in Rotterdam.  The Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) Trade Fair is the largest global event dedicated to the undersea defense industry and is “…a multi-faceted exhibition and conference reflecting the community’s desire for continuous learning and development.”

The day ended with a visit to the ABB E-Mobility Innovation Lab in Delft.
