On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg accompanied by the Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs and the Minister of the Economy, Mr. Franz Foyet, attended the one-year anniversary celebrations of the MeluXina Supercomputer in Bissen.
The MeluXina Supercomputer new hardware is capable of processing large volumes of data, carrying out thousands of billions of operations per second. The Meluxina supercomputer has a calculating power of 10 petaflops – literally ten million billion operations per second, a number that looks like this: 10,000,000,000,000,000. MeluXina’s performance is one of the top 50 of the world ranking of the 500 most performant supercomputers.
During today’s event, the heir to the Grand Ducal throne was given a tour of the MeluXina’s facility and was informed about the ins and outs of the supercomputer.
