On the evening of Thursday, March 17, 2022, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco gave a televised address announcing his desire to welcome Ukrainian refugees to the Principality of Monaco.
The sovereign prince also noted his “…full solidarity…” with the Ukrainian people, the war in the Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis, the efforts currently being put in place by the Gouvernement Princier de Monaco to help the refugees coming to the Principality, and more.
Here is some of what he had to say (rough translation, sorry):
“…in the name of my family and the Monégasques I want to express, once again, my full solidarity with the Ukrainian population.
We will, therefore, participate in this momentum [to help those fleeing the Ukraine by providing] available resources. We will mobilize to welcome and support the displaced and vulnerable people… I asked my government to put in place a coordination unit dedicated to welcoming and supporting the refugees. The Croix-Rouge Monégasque (Red Cross Monaco) will also bring all its expertise in humanitarian crisis management and I know many other Monegasque civil society entities are also hard at work to support local and international efforts…”
