His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco Attends the Premiere of the Documentary, Children of the Light.

palais princierOn June 8, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the premiere of the documentary film, Children of the Light, during the 54th Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

According to Yahoo News, the film is about the “…life of Desmond Tutu, the South African social rights activist and retired Anglican bishop, who rose to worldwide recognition during the 1980s as an opponent of apartheid.”

His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura Has Passed Away. (VIDEOS)

On Sunday, June 8, 2014, His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura, cousin of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan, passed away at the age of 66.

The Imperial Household Agency, via a press release, noted that the “…prince had been rushed to University of Tokyo Hospital in a critical condition earlier Sunday, but died of acute heart failure…”

Upon hearing the news of the death of Prince Katsura members of the Imperial family gathered together at the late prince’s home in Tokyo to mourn his death.

His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco Attends the Opening of the 54th Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

albertdemonacoOn Saturday, June 7, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the opening ceremony of the 54th Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

The sovereign prince is Honorary President of the festival which was created in 1961 by the late His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III of Monaco.

On Monday, June 9, 2014, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain welcomed the President of Mexico, Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto, and First Lady Angelica Rivera, to Palacio Real de El Pardo in Madrid.

After the official welcoming ceremony and a reception at the palace Their Majesties, President Nieto and the First Lady arrived at Palacio de La Zarzuela for a luncheon in honor of President Nieto’s two-day state visit to Spain.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh Attend The Royal Marines 350th Anniversary Beating Retreat.

QEIIOn Wednesday, June 4, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Horse Guards Parade in London to attend The Royal Marines 350th Anniversary Beating Retreat.

According to the official website for the 2014 Royal Marines Beating Retreat during today’s important event:

“…the Royal Marines [were] joined on parade by bands from the United States Marine Corps and the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps. Furthermore, a guard of honour comprising of over 100 Royal Marines Commandos complete[d] the line-up of this unique occasion.”

His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium Welcomes President Barack Obama to the Palais Royal de Bruxelles.

obamaOn Wednesday, June 4, 2014, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium accompanied by the Prime Minister of Belgium, Mr. Elio Di Rupo, welcomed the President of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama, to the Palais Royal de Bruxelles. This evening President Obama will attend the two-day G-7 Leaders’ Summit.

On Friday, President Obama will participate in a “…ceremony at the American cemetery close to Omaha Beach, the site of the American landing in Normandy, France, and attend the official international 70th D-Day commemoration ceremony at Sword Beach in Normandy…” according to a press release via the White House.
