Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias held an audience this afternoon at Palacio de la Zarzuela for participants from the international youth program, My Europe. The program permits participants to engage in lectures and conversations with prominent European leaders from the areas of business and politics.
Thereafter, the princess accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias arrived at the Hospital Universitario Quirón in Madrid to visit His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain. The old king is recovering from hip surgery.
On the evening of September 23, 2013, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco arrived at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City to attend a reception hosted by President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for visiting Heads of State and Government participating in the United Nations 68th General Assembly Session.
Last evening, Their Serene Highnesses hosted a lovely dinner in New York City in honor of the Principality of Monaco’s admittance to the United Nations. Guests at the dinner included the President of Palau, Thomas Remengesau, Jr., the Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi, and the President of Kiribati, Anote Tong, to name a few.
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, had the pleasure of naming A.P. Møller-Mærsk’s new container ship this morning at Langelinie in Copenhagen. The new container ship was christened the Majestic Mærsk.
According to the Danish royal court the Majestic Mærsk will “…sail between Europe and Asia carrying various agricultural goods…”
On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco arrived at the United Nations headquarters in New York City to deliver an important speech during the general debate of the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In his speech, the sovereign prince “…called for increased resources for the United Nations office that coordinates international relief for humanitarian emergencies…” according to the official website for the United Nations.
While the sovereign prince was delivering his speech Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco attended a lovely luncheon at the Studio Museum in Harlem, NYC, hosted by the amazing First Lady Michelle Obama, for “…the spouses of chiefs of state and heads of government…” according to the New York Times.
On September 23, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan gave an important speech during the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) meeting, Education Cannot Wait, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. The meeting “…called for global action on education in crisis-affected areas around the world…” according to UN.org.

His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco attended a gala dinner held at the Missouri Botanical Garden in lovely St. Louis, Missouri on September 22, 2013.
During last Sunday’s dinner the sovereign prince was awarded the 2013 World Ecology Award from the Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, for his dedication and support of “…environmental and conservation issues…”
On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived in city of Hasselt in the province of Limburg for a one-day visit.
Upon their arrival to the city Their Majesties were greeted with cheers from thousands of people who were thrilled to see their new king and queen. After receiving various local government officials including the provincial governor, Mr. Herman Reynders, Their Majesties attended a reception held in their honor, signed the Livre d’Or, completed a walkabout to meet the people, and generally had a fabulous time. 🙂
