HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Opens the Fries Museum.

maximaHer Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was in the city center of Leeuwarden this afternoon to officially open the new Fries Museum.

According to the official website for the museum there are over 170,000 objects contained in their collection which:

“…tells the stories of Friesland and its inhabitants. The objects range from archaeological finds to modern art, from the freedom fighter Grutte Pier’s sword and one of Mata Hari’s brassieres to paintings by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema and Gerrit Benner. Friesland’s art, culture and history are brought to life in the museum.”

Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium Visits a Special Exhibition at the Musée du Louvre-Lens. (VIDEOS)

MathildeOn the morning of Friday, September 13, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived at the Musée du Louvre-Lens in northern France to view the temporary exhibition, L’Europe de Rubens: 170 Oeuvres de l’Artiste, de ses Modèles et de sees Contemporains.

According to the official website for the Musée du Louvre-Lens the exhibition:

“…contains paintings, drawings, sculptures and objets d’art. The aim is to reconstruct the dynamism of Rubens’ creation and convey the spectacular nature of his inspiration. It also offers some intimate moments, revealing Rubens’ more personal side.  

L’Europe de Rubens is organized into six themes: the Europe of Courts, Religious Emotion and Baroque Faith, Ephemeral Monumentality, Rubens, Emulation and Competition, Ruben and the Republic of Letters, and the Paths of Genius.”

His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium Attends a Special Gala Dinner and Concert.

BelgiumOn September 12, 2013, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium arrived at Château de Laeken to attend a special dinner in honor of the Lithuanian Presidency of the European Union according to the Belgian royal court.

Thereafter, His Majesty accompanied by Lithuanian President, Ms. Dalia Grybauskaitė, attended a gala concert held at the Palais des Beaux-Arts.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Attend the 2013 Tusk Conservation Awards. (VIDEOS)

CambridgesOn the evening of September 12, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the Royal Society in London to attend the 2013 Tusk Conservation Awards.

According to the official website for the Tusk Conservation Award tonight’s event:

 “…aim[s] to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement in the field of African conservation. From practical field conservation to successful environmental education, the Tusk Conservation Awards recognize the achievements of individuals who are ensuring the future of Africa and bringing the challenges faced by the continent to a global audience.

Two awards were presented [this evening] by The Duke of Cambridge: 

The Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa: A lifetime achievement award, which recognize outstanding dedication and exceptional contribution to conservation in Africa. The recipient of this award will be announced and presented with a specially commissioned trophy by The Duke. This award is sponsored by Investec Asset Management.

The Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa: This award is for an individual who has been judged to be emerging as a leading conservationist and in recognition of their outstanding contribution to conservation and considerable success shown in their chosen field.”

HRH The Duke of Cambridge Resigns From the Armed Forces. (VIDEOS)

It was announced via Kensington Palace this morning that His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge has decided to “…leave operational service in the Armed Forces.” 

Per a press release:

“He [The Duke of Cambridge] completes his Tour with the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force at RAF Valley, Anglesey, after more than seven-and-a-half years of full-time military service. 

He will continue to support the work of The Queen and the Royal Family through a programme of official engagements, both at home and overseas, with The Duchess of Cambridge. 

The Duke will work closely over the next twelve months with the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. He will expand his work in the field of conservation, particularly in respect of endangered species. The Duke will continue to work with his charities on issues relating to children and young people, veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces. 

The Duke is currently considering a number of options for public service, a further announcement on which will follow in due course.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George are expected to move into their official residence at Kensington Palace within the next few weeks.”

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden Attends a Seminar in Stockholm. (VIDEO)

CPVictoriaOn Wednesday, September 11, 2013, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden arrived at the Riksdagen in Stockholm to attend the seminar entitled, The EU As A Global Actor for Peace, Democracy and Freedom: Experience and Vision, in memory of the late Ms. Anna Lindh, the former Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs who was viciously attacked (she was stabbed numerous times in the chest and stomach) on September 10, 2003, while shopping at a department store in Stockholm.  The following day Ms. Lindh passed away at the age of 46.
