On Sunday, September 22, 2013, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex arrived in lovely Doha, Qatar with the ORBIS charity to “…raise awareness about the prevention and treatment of blindness which affects some 1.5 million children around the world…” according to the Gulf Times.
After touching down at Doha International Airport the countess met with the Prime Minister of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. In the evening, the countess attended a charity gala dinner at Katara Hall.
On September 22, 2013, Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan visited the city of Kōriyama in the Fukushima Prefecture for the day.
The imperial couple’s first stop was a visit to a “…facility that measures the radiation levels of produce…” according to the Mainichi Daily News. Thereafter, the crown prince and crown princess visited a temporary housing shelter where they met with 80 residents from Futaba who lost everything due to the March 11, 2011, 9.0 earthquake off the Tōhoku coast and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant meltdown that followed. The day ended with a visit to an indoor playground.
On a lovely Sunday morning, September 22, 2013, in Brussels Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium along with their children — Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eléonore — joined thousands of people enjoying the 12th Annual Journée sans Voiture (Car Free Sunday).
The event, which also takes place in several cities throughout Belgium, encourages people to get out of their cars for a day, and to simply enjoy their city by using other modes of transportation (hence bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, and/or just simply putting one foot in front of the other and walking slowly).
On Saturday, September 21, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway arrived at the Dray Walk Gallery in London to view the exhibition, 100% Norway, as part of the Tent London during the 2013 London Design Festival.
Her Majesty also visited the exhibition, KHiB with Friends, which showcases Norwegian “…furniture, interior furnishings, lamps, clothing, textiles and graphic design…” according to the Norwegian royal court.

It was announced by RVD, that Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands had surgery this morning, Sunday September 22, 2013, after “…she had an unfortunate fall at her home and had broken her cheekbone…”
After the surgery the princess will remain in the hospital, under observation, for the next few days.
