Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was at the Willows Primary School in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester this afternoon to “…launch a new school counseling program to help combat the effects of drug and alcohol addiction on children and their families…” according to Princeofwales.gov.uk.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall hosted a lovely tea party at Clarence House this afternoon to “…celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the charity, First Story. The charity, launched in 2008, strives to support and inspire creativity in challenging UK secondary schools and their communities.”

On April 23, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias presented the Premio de Literatura en Lengua Castellana 2012 Miguel de Cervantes to Mr. José Manuel Caballero Bonald during a ceremony held inside the Paraninfo de la Universidad de Alcalá in Madrid.
Mr. Bonald received this award for his lifetime body of work which includes editing, poetry, novels, and academic efforts such as his contributions to the Seminario de Lexicografía de la Real Academia Española. His novels include Dos Días de Setiembre as well as Toda la Noche Oyeron Pasar Pájaros.
Meanwhile, at Palacio de la Zarzuela, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain held an audience with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Mr. Robert Fico. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Secretary of State for the European Union in the Spanish Government, Mr. Íñigo Méndez de Vigo.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands was in Hoorn this morning to visit the “…Show Band Hoorn.” The band, founded in 1955, performs at various festivals and other major events in the Netherlands and abroad.
According to RVD, during her visit Princess Maxima “…met with the conductor of the band as well as sixteen young musicians.” The band also performed for the future queen of the Netherlands.
Prior to her visit to Hoorn the princess visited the Stichting Gouden Dagen Fonds Westerheem nursing home in Heemskerk. The Stichting Gouden Dagen Fonds “… through volunteers organizes special events and activities and meets the needs of the elderly.”
During her visit the Princess Maxima met with representatives of the organization, volunteers, and of course the residents of the nursing home who were delighted to meet the princess.
His Royal Highness Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands visited the European Parliament in Brussels this morning to officially open a new photo exhibition of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.
His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje visited a park in the district of Transvaal in Den Haag this morning to plant a new tree in celebration of his upcoming inauguration/investiture on April 30. So what kind of tree did he plant? A Tilia x Europaea (aka the Common Linden).
His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden accompanied by 200 members of the Scouts did their civic duty of cleaning up parts of island of Djurgården in Stockholm. Basically, they picked up trash and hopefully His Majesty reminded people not to litter. Why? Because it’s not cool to throw trash any where one pleases; furthermore, there is a reason why trash cans were invented.
