His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand delivered his New Year speech last evening from the Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok.  The 85-year-old monarch urged his people to “… show compassion and affinity toward one another…” in the new year.  His Majesty also thanked the people who wished him a happy birthday last month at the Royal Plaza in Bangkok.
