(VIDEO) HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands Opens an Exhibition in Amsterdam.

beatrixOn Wednesday, September 23, 2015, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of Netherlands accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway officially opened the exhibition, Munch:Van Gogh, at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

The exhibition focuses on the:

“…the parallels between two iconic artists, Vincent Van Gogh and Norwegian artist, Edvard Munch. Their visions on life and art are closely related, despite the fact that they never met. Their work is colourful, intense, expressive and radical. Their lives are remarkably similar in many ways. 

For the first time, Munch:Van Gogh, studies in detail the similarities between both artists. Among more than one hundred artworks, there are several iconic masterpieces and works on special loan which are rarely lent out, such as ‘The Scream’ and ‘Madonna’ by Edvard Munch and ‘Starry Night over the Rhone’ and ‘Patience Escalier’ by Vincent van Gogh.”

Munch: Van Gogh will open to the public at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam on September 25-January 17, 2016.

HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Opens a Newly Restored Museum.

Princess Maxima 2011On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands opened the newly restored Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder (MOLHS)  in Amsterdam.

According to the MOLHS official website today’s opening:

“…marks the official completion of the new entrance building and the restoration and restructuring of the 17th-century canal house with its clandestine church in the attic. 

The new entrance building contains several facilities which the public have come to expect from a modern museum, such as a museum shop and restaurant. A room has also been set aside for future educational programs on themes such as religious diversity and tolerance.

The historic house on Oudezijds Voorburgwal has been renovated and restored to its original essence: a 17th-century house where people lived, worked and practiced their faith. In its new layout, the museum focuses on the various people who lived in the house. Throughout the entire restoration and restructuring, the museum remained open to the public. The new entrance building, designed by architect Felix Claus, is linked to the historic house by an underground passage and has expanded the museum to twice its original size.”

(VIDEOS) HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Opens a Visitor Center.

On September 22, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands officially opened a new visitor center at De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) in Amsterdam.

According to RVD, the new center provides:

“…financial education for young people. At the center, visitors can interactively, through games, videos and a treasure hunt to discover what the DNB does and the impact it does on their own finances. Groups, mostly students, can take a tour, taking in competitions exploring the different fields of DNB, such as supervision, monetary policy, payment systems and economic advice.

After the official opening Queen Máxima given a tour of the Visitor Center, where students demonstrate the interactive components. Concluding Her Majesty spoke with stakeholders about the importance of financial education and DNB’s role in it.”

(VIDEO) News Regarding HRH The Duke of Cambridge.

On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge visited the Royal Air Force (RAF) Coningsby airbase in Lincolnshire to observe the 100th Anniversary Parade of 29 (Reserve) Squadron.

The airbase is home to the “…Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), of which The Duke is Patron…” according to the Press Association.

(VIDEO) HRH The Prince of Wales Attends Service at Westminster Abbey.

On Sunday, September 20, 2015, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales attended service at Westminster Abbey in London to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

According to Clarence House the service was:

“…the culmination of a week of commemorations remembering the victory and loss of life of the 1940 Second World War battle of the skies.

A full congregation of 2,200 people ended the service by standing to applaud the seven pilots and air crew, now in their 90s, as they left Westminster Abbey together.

The remaining Few, as they were honourably named by Churchill, earlier escorted to the altar the Battle of Britain Roll of Honour containing the names of those who took part in the critical battle.

The Prince of Wales began the service by laying a wreath on the memorial stone of Winston Churchill, handed to him by the war prime minister’s grandson Sir Nicholas Soames. 

A flypast of four Spitfire and two Hurricanes later marked the occasion during a reception for the veterans and their families at Church House, where the Queen’s Colour Squadron formed the number 75 during a procession with the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment.”
