On September 26, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain presided over the opening of the 2012/2013 academic year at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in Madrid.
During today’s event His Majesty unveiled a new plaque as well as gave an encouraging speech to the students.
On September 26, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias were in Cádiz to attend the opening of the XXV Asamblea General del Consejo de Municipios y Regiones de Europa (CEMR) held at the Palacio de Congresos de Cádiz.
“The Asamblea General del Consejo de Municipios y Regiones de Europa (CEMR) is the largest organization of local authorities in Europe. Its members are 55 national associations of towns, cities and regions from 40 European countries. Overall, are associations representing more than 100,000 local and regional authorities. CEMR is the European branch of Cities and Local Governments, World Organization of local authorities.
The aim of CEMR is two-fold: to influence European legislation on behalf of local and regional authorities and provide a platform for exchanges between its member associations, their elected representatives and experts.”

On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 25, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias held audiences with representatives from the Asociación Nacional de Centros Promotores de Excelencia (CEX) as well as “…representatives participating in the 6th Edition of the Programa de Visitantes “Futuros Líderes Chinos.”
Meanwhile in Brussels, His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium participated in an academic meeting of the Conseil Fédéral du Développement Durable “… in honor of the outgoing President of the Conseil, Mr. Theo Rombouts…” held at the Palais d’Egmont.
On September 25, 2012, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain presided over the delivery of the IV Premio Internacional Conde de Barcelona to His Eminence Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone held at the Real Monasterio de Santa María de Pedralbes in Barcelona.
This annual award is given to a “… person, company or institution that has been noted for his contribution to the world of communication, understood in its broadest sense…”

On September 25, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain was at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid to attend the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Real Asociación Amigos del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
During the celebrations a painting by Spanish painter, Mr. Eduardo Arroyo, was donated by the president of the Real Asociación Amigos del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.
On September 24, 2012, His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex visited Wales. Today’s agenda included a reception held at the Gwyn Hall in Neath, attending a conference entitled, Leaders of Tomorrow, and much more.

On September 24, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias held audiences with various “… colonels of the Army and the Air Force and captains of the Navy, who have been appointed to take command in various military units” at the Palacio de El Pardo.
The prince also held an audience with brigadier generals from the Army, Air Force and Navy admirals according to Casa Real.
