On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the KASK & Conservatorium and School of Arts in Gent, Belgium.
According to the official website for the KASK & Conservatorium the school:
“…brings together talented and motivated students with outstanding educators, active artists, designers and theorists in art and design from all over the world. The mission statement of the school defines its main tasks: development of the arts, education and research in an international perspective.”
During this morning’s visit Her Majesty Queen Mathilde viewed a Cello master class and a few musical intermezzos. She also spoke with international students who are passionate about music. In recent years, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde has visited a large number of conservatories in order to stimulate the musical education of young people and, in particular, to further encourage their interest in classical music. Moreover, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde has been a Patron of the Queen Elisabeth International Competition, which in 2022, will organize a Cello competition.
