On February 11, 2022, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco sent a video message to those attending the One Ocean Summit in Brest, France.
The purpose of the summit is to “…raise the collective level of ambition of the international community on marine issues and to translate our shared responsibility to the ocean into tangible commitments…” according to the official website for the One Ocean Summit.
In his speech the sovereign prince addressed the:
“…many solutions that exist to the perils and challenges facing the Ocean. Warnings on these perils, exemplified by this summit, educating all generations, listening to science, effective preservation of endangered species, development of responsible economic activities, in particular sustainable fishing, energy transition towards renewable marine energies, development of marine protected areas…”
On February 17, 2022 Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium accompanied by Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Lorenz and Princess Astrid, Archduke and Archduchess of Austria-Este, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Laurent and Princess Claire of Belgium, Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Belgium and her husband, Mr. James O’Hare, and Her Royal Highness Princess Lea of Belgium arrived at the Eglise Norte-Dame de Laeken in Laeken, Belgium to attend a special Mass in “…memory of the deceased members of the royal family…” according to the Belgian royal court.
