On the evening of Wednesday, January 15, 2014, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden arrived at the Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien KVA (Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences) to attend the 2014 Tobiaspriset.

According to the official website for the KVA, the winner of this year’s prize went to Professor Sten Eirik Waelgaard Jacobsen for his:

“…groundbreaking scientific contributions to the field of haematopoiesis, particularly with respect to identifying factors that regulate the maturation process of haematopoietic stem cells, factors of great importance for successfully transplanting stem cells…”
