princessmathildeOn May 14, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium attended a conference entitled, Basic Education for Change, organized by the Association Plan Belgique in collaboration with Unicef Belgique.

According to the Belgian royal court today’s conference, held at the Maison des Parlementaires in Brussels, discussed “…the role of the Belgian cooperation in basic education in developing countries…”

Later in the afternoon, the princess accompanied by her children attended the Concours Reine Elisabeth Piano 2013 semi-finals held Studio 4 Flagey in Brussels.

His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium Attends the 2nd Edition of the Belgodyssée Masterclass in Brussels.

PhilippeOn the afternoon of May 14, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium attended the 2nd Edition of the Belgodyssée Masterclass for young journalists held at the Centre de Presse International (Residence Palace) in Brussels.

According to the Belgian newspaper, L’avenir, today’s event:

“…was devoted to the optimal use of evidence gathered through social media and their impact on the dissemination of information.

Young journalists are aware of the impact social media has on the so-called mainstream media.  Today information gathering is often much faster though Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets.  However, social media can affect the clarity of distinction between facts, rumors and opinions. Participants in today’s masterclass received advice from experienced journalists on how to respond to this changing media.”

TRHs Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg Visit Vianden.

gsOn May 13, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg visited the city of Vianden.

According to the newspaper, Wort, the hereditary grand-ducal couple were given “…a tour of the historic city, visited Château de Vianden, met with local residents at a nursing home…” and much more.

News Regarding TMs King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain. (VIDEO)

On Monday, May 13, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain attended the inauguration of the XVIII Congreso Internacional de Arqueología Clásica held at the Palacio de Congresos in Mérida.

The five-day conference held under the theme, Centro y Periferia en el Mundo Clásico, was organized by the Museo Nacional de Arte Romano, the Consejería de Educación y Cultura del Gobierno de Extremadura and the Instituto Catalán de Arqueología Clásica.

The XVIII Congreso Internacional de Arqueología Clásica gathers international archeologists, scholars, and students to share their findings of their research as well as to define new points of scientific debate.  The conference also provides contacts among professionals at the international level.

Meanwhile, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain held an audience with Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Erlan Idrisov, at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid.  So, what did they talk about during their important meeting?  No idea.  Perhaps the usual stuff: the economy, bilateral relations, basketball…

News Regarding TMs King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan. (VIDEOS)

On Sunday, May 12, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan was in Irbid where she visited the Al Ashrafieh Elementary School for Girls and Al Ashrafieh Secondary School for Girls to “…check on the construction work done by Madrasati initiative as part of its fifth phase which includes around 100 schools in the northern governorate.”

During both tours of the schools Her Majesty met with staff, students “… visited several workshops and activities carried out by Madrasati volunteers, checked on the completed construction work and the positive effects the improvements had on the school’s environment and the teaching-learning process at the Al Ashrafieh Secondary School for Girls…” according to the Petra News Agency.

In other news, His Majesty King Abdullah II visited the Public Security Directorate this morning as well as held a meeting with German political foundation, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Amman.  Discussions focused on bilateral ties between Jordan and Germany and the never-ending Syrian crisis.
