On January 28, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden attended the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry’s 200th formal gathering held at the Stockholm City Hall.
Per the Swedish royal court:
“The formal gathering began with President Kerstin Niblaeus welcoming all those present and declaring the gathering open.
The King then gave a speech, in which he said, ‘During the past two hundred years, there have been enormous advances in Swedish agriculture, in terms of both productivity and efficiency. The role of the Academy has also changed over the years.
The authority commissions have disappeared, and the Academy has increasingly become a forum for discussions on topical issues…’”
