Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Opens a New Provincial House in Leeuwarden

On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands was in Leeuwarden to official open the new Fryslân provincial house.

Upon her arrival, Her Majesty was greeted by hundreds of well-wishers, local dignitaries as well as a large choir of singers.  According to RVD, the provincial house “…comprises of new construction and partly restored buildings with large open spaces…”

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh Visit the 2012 Chelsea Flower Show in London (VIDEO)

On May 21, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh visited the 2012 Chelsea Flower Show in London.  Also in attendance were Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex, His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent and his wife, as well as Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal.

Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall Visit Canada: Day One and Two (VIDEOS)

Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands in Den Haag

Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands was at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in Den Haag to attend the oration of Professor Stella Quimbo to the Prince Claus Chair (PCC).

According to the official website for the PCC:

The curatorium of the Prince Claus Chair in Equity and Development has appointed Stella Luz A. Quimbo from the Philippines as the new holder of the Prince Claus Chair 2011/2013. In her academic work, she focuses on Public Health, Health Economics and Development. Stella Quimbo will be based at ISS from May to July 2012. source

Random Royal News Regarding Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium and Members of the Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg.

On Monday, May 21, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium participated in a workshop, organized by the Princess Mathilde Fund,on the role of fathers in education entitled, The Strength of the Fathers: Partners in Education. The workshop and roundtable discussion, led by the princess was held at the Musée Belvue in Brussels.

Meanwhile, the Cour Grand-Ducale de Luxembourg announced that Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa along with His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his fiancée, Comtesse Stéphanie de Lannoy, will attend the baptism of Princess Estelle in Stockholm on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

Random Royal News Regarding Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan.

On Thursday, May 17, 2012, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan attended a luncheon held at the Japanese Embassy in London.

The purpose for the reception was to personally thank the many “… British for their contribution to rescue efforts and donation drives after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.”  In a speech Emperor Akihito stated:

It was truly heartening that so many people in this country not only expressed their profound sympathy for the victims of the calamity but also promptly organized a wide range of valuable relief activities to help those in need. Your kind and practical response has, I presume, further strengthened the deep friendship that has already existed for such a long time between the peoples of our two countries.

This afternoon the imperial couple arrived in Tokyo, Japan after celebration Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  According to the newspaper, Mainichi Daily News via the Imperial Household Agency, Emperor Akihito will resume his official duties on Monday.
