On July 3, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the Isles of Scilly. According to the official website for the Prince of Wales, the royal couple began their day with the opening of the Five Islands School:
… a year after The Queen unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of the new sports hall on the site. Their Royal Highnesses were escorted around the new building, visiting both primary and secondary classrooms, by the acting headteacher Liz Duffy-Griffiths.
The school – the only secondary on the Isles of Scilly – has more than 250 students, providing education for the communities of St Mary’s, Bryher, St Agnes, St Martin’s and Tresco.
Duchess of Cornwall also visited the “… Isles of Scilly Veterinary Support Group (IOSVSG) formed in 2007 by a group of volunteers committed to raising money for better equipment and surgery facilities.”
