On Friday, July 27, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh hosted a gala reception at Buckingham Palace for “… Heads of State and Government attending the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.”
The royal guests included Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales, Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, and many others.
Government Heads of State included the Russian Prime Minister, Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, the President of Brazil, Ms. Dilma Rousseff, the Governor General of Canada, Mr. David Johnston, the President of Mongolia, Mr. Elbegdorj Tsakhia, the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama (who looks amazing, by the way) and a dozens of others.
On Thursday, July 26, 2012, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the inauguration of the Maison de Monaco, the principality of Monaco headquarters during the 2012 Olympic Games, in London.
The exhibition showcases Prince Albert II’s private collection of 15 Olympic torches. Also, the Monaco Tourist Authority will “… provide two desks with hostesses offering information and brochures about Monaco [at Maison de Monaco] and a big screen will also present Monaco as a destination for visitors.”
