In Vaduz, the Fürstenhaus Liechtenstein has announced the engagement of His Serene Highness Prince Georg of Liechtenstein to Princess Maria-Nives von der Leyen.
Born on April 20th, 1999, in Grabs, Switzerland, Prince Georg of Liechtenstein is the third child of His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois and Her Royal Highness Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein and the grandson of His Serene Highness Prince Hans Adam II of Liechtenstein.
After attending Ebenholz Primary School in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and the International School Rheintal in Switzerland, he completed his secondary education at Malvern College in England. He then studied at the University of St. Gallen and at ESCP Business School in Turin and Berlin, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Management in 2023. He currently works in business development in the technology sector in New York.
Born on February 13th, 2001, in Landsberg am Lech, Germany, Princess Maria-Nives is the youngest daughter of Philipp Prince and Princess Elisabeth von der Leyen.
After attending the International School Augsburg, she completed her secondary education at the Klessheim Tourism School near Salzburg.
Princess Maria-Nives then studied at the University of West London, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. After working for two years in Berlin, she has been employed by a marketing agency in Vienna since the end of 2024.
The upcoming princely wedding of His Serene Highness Prince Georg of Liechtenstein and Princess Maria-Nives von der Leyen is expected to take place in Germany in late summer 2027.

In Vaduz, His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois, acting on behalf of His Serene Highness Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein, and Her Royal Highness Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein presided over a ceremony at Schloss Vaduz during which the Fürstlich Liechtensteinischer Verdienstorden (Order of Merit of the Principality of Liechtenstein) was conferred.
Founded by Prince Franz I of Liechtenstein in 1937, the order honors services rendered to the Principality.
The former government councillor, Dr. Aurelia Frick, received the Komturkreuz (Commander’s Cross). The former president of the Samaritans Triesenberg, Mr. Daniel Beck, received the Ritterkreuz (Knight’s Cross).

This morning, Her Serene Highness Princess Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein married Mr. Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer at the Kathedrale St. Florin (Cathedral of St. Florin) in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.
The Catholic wedding ceremony was presided over by Bishop Benno Elbs, the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Vaduz, and Father Martin Rauch, a longtime friend of the princely family of Liechtenstein, who delivered the sermon.
The Liturgy of the Word was conducted primarily in German, with select passages in English and Spanish.
Princess Marie-Caroline and Mr. Maduro Vollmer chose the Gospel readings, music during the ceremony, as well as close friends involved in the ceremony.
Guests attending the princely wedding included the bride’s parents, His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois and Her Royal Highness Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein, His Serene Highness Prince Josef Wenzel of Liechtenstein, His Serene Highness Prince Georg of Liechtenstein, and His Serene Highness Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein.
The bride’s grandfather, His Serene Highness Prince Hans Adam II of Liechtenstein, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Maximilian and Princess Angela of Liechtenstein, His Serene Highness Prince Alfons of Liechtenstein, Her Serene Highness Princess Tatjana of Liechtenstein, and her husband, Mr. Philip von Lattorff.
Their Serene Highnesses Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein and Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein (Princess of Luxembourg), His Royal Highness Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg, and Their Serene Highnesses Prince Philipp and Princess Isabelle of Liechtenstein.
Their Serene Highnesses Prince Josef-Emanuel and Princess Maria Claudia of Liechtenstein, Her Serene Highness Princess Maria-Anunciata of Liechtenstein and her husband, Mr. Emanuele Musini, Her Serene Highness Princess Marie-Astrid of Liechtenstein and her husband, Mr. Ralph Worthington V, Her Serene Highness Princess Nora of Liechtenstein, His Imperial Highness Archduke Alexander of Austria, His Royal Highness Duke Franz of Bavaria and his longtime partner, Mr. Thomas Greinwald, His Royal Highness Duke Max Emmanuel of Bavaria, and Her Royal Highness Duchess Elisabeth of Bavaria.
The groom’s family, including Mr. Francisco Maduro Galindo, Mrs. Sofía Maduro Vollmer, Mr. Gustavo Maduro Vollmer, Miss Emilia Maduro Vollmer, Mr. Alfredo Maduro Vollmer, Miss Sofia Maduro Vollmer, Mr. Ricardo Maduro Vollmer, the President of the Landtag of Liechtenstein, Mr. Manfred Kaufmann, and members of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein.
Following the ceremony, a private reception was held in the rose garden at Schloss Vaduz.
Princess Marie-Caroline wore the historic Habsburg Fringe Tiara, once worn by her grandmother, the late Princess Marie of Liechtenstein, on her own wedding day.

Born on October 28th, 1990, in Caracas, Venezuela, Mr. Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer is the eldest son of Francisco and Sofia Maduro Vollmer, née Vollmer de Marcellus.
Mr. Vollmer attended primary school at the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola in Caracas, Venezuela. He was then enrolled at the Harrow School in Harrow-on-the-Hill, London, England.
Mr. Maduro Vollmer received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of St. Andrews and his postgraduate degree from Queens College, Cambridge University in Cambridge, England.
In 2013, Mr. Maduro Vollmer moved to Paris, France, where he began his professional career in Investment Banking. He eventually moved to New York City, New York, before he returned to London, England, in 2016, where he now works in Investment Management.

In Vaduz, the Fürstenhaus von Liechtenstein issued a press release this morning to announce that Her Serene Highness Princess Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein and Mr. Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer will marry on August 30th, 2025, at the Kathedrale St. Florin in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. The Catholic wedding ceremony will be presided over by Bishop Benno Elbs.
Guests who will attend the princely wedding include members of the Princely Family of Liechtenstein, members of the Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg, close friends, and members of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein.
Following the ceremony, a private reception will be held at Schloss Vaduz.
The Fürstenhaus von Liechtenstein also noted that residents of the Principality of Liechtenstein and tourists “… are welcome to be in front of the cathedral to witness the ceremonial entry and exit.”

Like other royal and princely houses in Europe, the Princely Family of Liechtenstein held their annual New Year’s reception at the majestic Vaduz Castle.
HSH Prince Hans-Adam, HSH Princess Marie, Hereditary Prince Alois and his wife Princess Sophie greeted a myriad of guests inside the castle. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks were served while the attendees and Princely family mingled. All in all the reception looked like, well, a fun reception. 🙂
