Tomorrow (or rather today) in Ireland, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and his fiancée, Charlene Wittstock, officially begin their state visit to the emerald island. According to the Press Association, the couple will be officially greeted by:

President Mary McAleese and her husband Dr Martin McAleese will formally welcome the Prince at Aras an Uachtarain tomorrow morning and kick-start a series of engagements in Dublin.

After the official greeting, a bunch of air kissing, hand shaking, and head nods the princely entourage and Irish politicians will have a lovely lunch at Iveagh House. After lunch there will be a meeting “…between the Taoiseach and Prince Albert in Government Buildings.” (MS) It is unknown what Miss Wittstock will do, perhaps shopping or meeting the locals, but one this is for sure… there will be loads of photos of her doing something. Or, not.

Anyway…

The purpose of the visit, according to the Irish government news service, Merrion Street, is to:

…strengthen relations between Ireland and Monaco and help to explore the undoubted opportunities for increasing trade, tourism and investment links between the two countries.

Chasing the Royals: The Media and The Monarchy is an interesting yet very creepy documentary, by John Curtin, that recently aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The film focuses on the relationship between the British royal family and their BFFs… the paparazzi and the tabloid magazines.

I sense a 2011 Oscar nomination for best documentary next year. Pfft.

Yesterday, March 30, 2011, H.R.H. The Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg met with various members from the Heads of Customs Administration of the European Region of World Customs Organization at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.

Remembering Princess Ka’iulani at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii

On March 31, 2011, at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawai’i in Honolulu, Hawai’i members of the Princess Ka’iulani Project as well as international researchers and well-known scholars will hold a tribute and remembrance ceremony for the late Princess of Hawai’i starting at 6pm Hawai’i time. Various bands will play including Hamish Douglas Burgess of the Maui Celtic. After the service, the participants will part-take in a roundtable discussion about the Princess.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Attends the 6th Annual Ever Monaco Exhibition and Conference. Plus Other Updates.

On March 31, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the opening of the 6th Annual Ever Monaco Exhibition in Monte-Carlo, Monaco.

The exhibition and conference, held at the Grimaldi Forum, focuses on environmentally friendly vehicles “…and of renewable energies…” and technology. According to the official site for the 2011 Ever Monaco website, many well-known auto companies are present this year including Honda, Toyota, Lexus, and Mitsubishi just to name a few. The auto companies are at the event to “…showcase the [their] latest models of ecological vehicles on the market…” which includes hybrids, electric, and biofuel (hydrogen) cars.

Overall, the Ever Monaco exhibition and conference is:

… intended to be a forum of specialists coming from both universities and industries, involved in R&D projects in the area of ecological vehicles and of renewable energies. They will have the opportunity to share their scientific, technical, business and social experiences with other attendees coming from all over the world, through the presentation and the discussion of their recent innovations either at lecture or dialogue sessions or at the different booths of the exhibition which will be organized in parallel with the conference. Two days before the opening of Ever Monaco, on March 29, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II received an honorary degree from the Institute Portalis in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Oh Yay!

Good to know that he didn’t have to work and stress his cojones off to earn that “honorary degree” like the rest of us. Oh no, I’m not bitter… lol 🙂

Royally Mad: A New Show From BBC America (I Pray It Won’t Be Royally Embarrassing for the Cast)

With less than one month until the big day in lovely London, England royal wedding fever is almost at its peak around the world. As a result the television network, BBC America, decided to develop a program about uber-fanatical royal watchers from the United States and their royal fantasy adventures in England entitled, Royally Mad hosted by, Cat Deeley (you know… that lady who hosts the crapfest of a show on the FOX network called, So You Think You Can Dance on American TV.)

Here is the breakdown about this new reality show:

From an air steward to a wedding planner, the finalists come from all over the U.S. and include two life-long friends who live on opposite sides of the country and haven’t seen one another in 10 years. The one thing they ALL have in common – they ADORE the Royal Family. BBC AMERICA’s Royally Mad will give them the chance of a lifetime: to visit places associated with the Royal Family and the Royal Wedding and meet some of the people who know Kate and William and who are involved in the upcoming nuptials. Look, I’ll be very blunt here: After watching the “Meet the Cast” clips on BBC America’s website, I have to admit that… I … um… well… cringed.

Seriously.

Now, I am sure the people on the show like Allison, Holly, Rich, Karen, and some other lady whose name escapes me at the moment are really lovely people, but I don’t know. Judging the “Meet the Cast” clips alone… something tells me this show is going to embarrass the hell out of these lovely people three years from now. Honestly, I hope the editors and producers of this show will refrain from making fun of these ardent royal watchers. I’m hoping for the best so… let’s see what happens when the show finally premieres on April 12, 2011 at 10pm ET/PT.

I know I am going to receive a hellva lot of angry mail from TRC readers for expressing thoughts about the “Meet the Cast” clips from the show Royally Mad aka Royally Embarrassed/A Royally Stupid Idea For a Reality Show but Hey We At BBC America Are Desperate to Milk the Crap Out of the Upcoming British Royal Wedding Because Our Ratings Suck On Our Network, but whatever. I can take it. 🙂

OH! One more thing: If you haven’t heard by now BBC America will broadcast the royal wedding live and commercial-free on April 29, 2011.
