Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Attends the Opening of ‘Schetsen van Schoonheid’ Exhibition

On November 22, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands was in Gouda to attend the opening of the exhibition, Schetsen van Schoonheid (Sketches of Beauty).  The eleven sketches on display range from 5 to 22 meters long and are quite spectacular to say the least.

H.R.H. The Prince of Wales in Abertillery, Wales. Plus, Other News

On November 21,, 2011, H.R.H. the Prince of Wales was in Abertillery, Wales for a brief visit where he toured the:

…Guardian of the Valleys memorial statue, in tribute to the 45 souls who lost their lives in the Gleision mining tragedy in the 1960s, before officially opening the community centre in Abertillery.

This afternoon, the Prince of Wales met with the President of Turkey, Mr. Abdullah Gül, at Mandarin Oriental Hotel.  Click here to view photos.

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Visits the High Flux Reactor in Petten

On November 22, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands visited the High Flux Reactor in Petten. The nuclear reactor of the European Commission in 1961 was set up for research purposes. Besides research in the energy sector, the nuclear reactor in Petten is vital for the supply of medical isotopes.

H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh Welcome the President of Turkey (VIDEO)

On November 22, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh officially welcomed the President of Turkey, Abdullah Gül, and his wife Hayrunnisa, with a traditional ceremony  in London, England.

According to the newspaper, Telegraph, upon the President’s arrival at Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall:

… a 41-gun royal salute, fired from nearby Green Park by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, could be heard in the distance.

The Band of the Coldstream Guards then played both Britain’s and Turkey’s national anthems. President Gül and the Duke of Edinburgh undertook the inspection of a guard of honour made up of 101 soldiers and three officers from the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards.

After the traditional welcoming ceremony they made their way back to Buckingham Palace where they viewed an “…exhibition of Turkish Artefacts from the Royal Collection, in the Picture Gallery…” at the palace.

T.R.H.s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias Visit Chile: Day One (VIDEO)

T.R.H.s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias have arrived in Santiago, Chile two-day official visit.  The royal couple were received at Chile’s International Airport by Foreign Minister, Alfredo Moreno.

This morning the royal couple attended an official reception, hosted by President Sebastian Piñera, at Palacio de La Moneda.  Soon, the prince and princess paid a tribute to the late Chilean independence leader, Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme, by placing a wreath at a monument dedicated to him.

In the afternoon, Prince Felipe gave a keynote speech at the Chile-Spain Investment Forum and Seminar held at the Sheraton Hotel where “…where 100 corporate representatives gathered to discuss Spain’s commercial opportunities in the Chilean market.”  From there the royal couple visited the National Congress headquarters in Santiago.

This evening the royal couple will attend an official gala dinner hosted by President Piñera at the Palacio de La Moneda.

T.R.H.s Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg Visit the l’Atert-Lycée Redange. Plus, Other News.

On November 21, 2011, T.R.H.s Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg visited the l’Atert-Lycée Redange in Luxembourg.

After touring the campus grounds, classrooms and workshops the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess participated in a “Q & A” session with the faculty as well as students of the school.  At the end of the day, they had lunch in the cafeteria.

Meanwhile, H.R.H. Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mr. Jeannot Krecké, are currently on a trade mission in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

On Sunday, the Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, along with his delegation, inaugurated the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Abu Dhabi.  Also in attendance was H.R.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan and Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qassimi.

According to the official website for the government of Luxembourg:

The Embassy, the first Luxembourg Embassy in an Arab country, will be headed by a non-resident ambassador, George Faber.  The opening of the Embassy is placed in the context of a reorganization in the short and medium term the Luxembourg diplomatic network to better represent the interests of the country in a changing international context. It also reflects the commitment of Luxembourg in its efforts to deepen relations with the UAE, as well as to strengthen its presence especially in the Gulf region. source

H.R.H. Princess Mathilde of Belgium Visits Schools Participating in the ‘Journée du Changement’ Campaign (VIDEO)

On November 21, 2011, H.R.H. Princess Mathilde of Belgium was in Eupen and Transinne, Belgium to meet with students from two elementary schools participating in the Journée du Changement (Day of Change) proposed by UNICEF Belgium as part of Journée des Droits de l’Enfant (Day of the Rights of a Child) campaign.

In her capacity as honorary president of UNICEF Belgium, Princess Mathilde spoke with students from the l’Athénée Royal d’Eupen (Royal Athenaeum of Eupen) as well the Transinne elementary schools regarding the importance of education and so forth.
