The Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg Host a Reception at the Palace. Plus, News Regarding Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.

This afternoon at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg, T.R.H.s Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa along with Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume hosted a reception for participants in humanitarian aid missions as well as operations of peacekeeping from the Luxembourg Army and the Grand Duchy police.

Also this afternoon, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa attended a Christmas concert benefiting the SOS Children’s Village in Luxembourg.

H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje Opens a New Factory

On December 8, 2011, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje along with Mr. Komori, the CEO of Fujifilm Corporation opened a new factory in Tilburg, Netherlands.  During the opening ceremony the heir to the Dutch throne along with Mr. Komori left their footprints in green clay then toured the new eco-friendly factory.

Her Majesty Queen Paola of Belgium Attends a Christmas Concert. Plus, News Regarding His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium

On December 8,, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Paola of Belgium attended a Christmas concert for the Queen Paola Foundation (QPF) held at the Hotel Plaza in Brussels. Those who performed during this annual concert included soprano, Haeran Hong and tenor, Thomas Blondelle. They were accompanied by Philippe Riga on the piano. The Christmas concert is an opportunity for the Queen Paola Foundation to bring together those who help the QPF with the projects the Queen Paola Foundation supports.

Meanwhile, His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium hosted a reception to mark the tenth anniversary of the “Laeken Declaration on the Future of the European Union,” held at the Château de Laeken.  To view photos please click here.

H.R.H. The Duchess of Cornwall Attends the 19th Annual ICAP Charity Day in London, England

On December 7, 2011, H.R.H. the Duchess of Cornwall participated in the 19th Annual ICAP Charity Day in London, England.  Per the official website for the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall:

The Duchess of Cornwall closed a £5 billion deal in the City today as part of a global charity event hosted by the stockbroker firm ICAP.

The ICAP 19th annual global charity day saw The Duchess and a number of celebrities including Lewis Hamilton, Rod Stewart and Rupert Everett join hundreds of brokers sporting fancy dress to raise funds for more than 200 charities.

The £5 billion deal completed by The Duchess of Cornwall was a “five yard” sterling  interest rate swap, facilitated by brokers dressed as beefeaters, and one of several huge deals closed by The Duchess as she moved from desk to desk.

The inter-dealer broker ICAP expects to raise millions for charities including Maggie’s, a cancer charity of which The Duchess is President. source

T.R.H.s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias Attend the Changing of the Guard at the Royal Palace in Madrid (VIDEO)

The changing of guard at the royal palace in Madrid usually brings in several hundreds of locals as well as tourists every first Wednesday of the month.  This time there were special guests at the event.  For the first time, T.R.H.s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias participated in this grand event. At twelve o’clock the royal couple joined the crowds outside of the royal palace to watch the event.  During the hour-long parade, a total of 300 royal guards and 80 horses were involved.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Attend the One Billion Tree Event in Durban, South Africa

On December 7, 2011, T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene attended the UNEP One Billion Tree Campaign/Climate Action Networking Reception in Durban, South Africa. During the event, Prince Albert II paid a special tribute to 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Professor Wangari Maatai, who passed away this past September 25, 2011.

Professor Wangari Maathai was the founder of Kenya’s Green Belt Movement and patron of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Billion Tree Campaign. Professor Maathai was one of Africa’s foremost environmental campaigners, internationally recognized for her commitment to democracy, human rights and conservation. source

T.R.H.s The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall Attend a Concert at Royal Albert Hall.

On Tuesday December 6, 2011, T.R.H.s the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall attended a concert held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England.  The purpose of the event was to raise money for The Prince’s Trust.  The funds raised will be used to help and support  the “…UK City Riots Appeal [which helps] disadvantaged young people from riot-torn areas to rebuild their lives and communities.” 

Oh yeah, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also attended the charity concert.
