On Friday, June 7, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived in Houten to attend the 10th anniversary of Thomashuis, a home for “…adults with a intellectual limitation which are led by 2 care providers who live in the house and 8 residents.”
On June 7, 2013, Buckingham Palace issued a statement regarding the health of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh:
“His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has had an exploratory operation following abdominal investigations.
The results will now be analysed.
At this early stage he is progressing satisfactorily.
Further updates will continue to be issued when appropriate.”
The 91-year-old duke was admitted (which was apparently planned some time ago) to the London Clinic yesterday after attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
On June 7, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II officially “…opened the BBC’s newly revamped Broadcasting House…” in London. During today’s visit Her Majesty met with staff, was given a tour of the BBC headquarters, watched to a live performance by the Irish band, The Script, and officially opened the new Broadcasting House live on BBC Radio 4.
On Friday, June 7, 2013, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan officially welcomed the president of France, Mr. François Hollande, and his partner, Ms. Valerie Trierweiler, to Tokyo.
After an official welcoming ceremony at the Imperial Palace the emperor and empress hosted a gala dinner in the evening on honor of President Hollande visit to Tokyo, Japan.
The president and his delegation will remain in Japan for the next three days where they will met with various Japanese government leaders and businessmen. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen bilateral ties between Japan and France as well as to “…deepen their cooperation on nuclear technology and to discuss joint development of military equipment, vowing to raise the tenor of their partnership.”
On June 6, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip, and Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine and her fiancé, Mr. Christopher O’Neill, celebrated National Day at Skasen.
Earlier in the day, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel along with Princess Estelle inaugurated the “…exhibition, Open Palace, at the royal palace in Stockholm.”
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal arrived in Wadebridge, Cornwall this afternoon to attend the opening of the 2013 Royal Cornwall Agricultural Show. After the opening, the princess, as president, attended the “…annual general meeting Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth…” according to the British royal court.
