On Monday, October 14, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias arrived in the municipality of Cortes de Pallás in Valencia to inaugrate “…Europe’s largest pumped-storage hydroelectric scheme at Cortes-La Muela in the Júcar river basin…” according to Iberdola (the company the owns and developed the hydroelectric scheme).

On Saturday, October 12, 2013, people throughout Spain celebrated La Fiesta Nacional de España. This morning Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias presided over a military parade held in the Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo in Madrid.
Thereafter, the prince and princess accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain and Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain attended a gala reception held at Palacio de La Zarzuela. Guests in attendance, which included various government officials, listened to an uplifting speech by Prince Felipe:
“Today is a day to celebrate that which unites us, to remember our ancient history and appreciate how much we have achieved together. But, most of all, today is a day to reaffirm our commitment to the future, a shared future of harmony and progress for all of Spain and our citizens…”
