On the evening of December 10, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden and His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip of Sweden attended the 2013 Nobel Prize ceremony held at the Stockholms Konserthus.

Here are the winners of the 2013 Nobel Prize:

The Nobel Prize in Literature went to Ms. Alice Munro

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to Mr. Martin Karplus, Mr. Michael Levitt, and Mr. Arieh Warshel.

The Nobel Prize in Physics went to Mr. François Englert and Mr. Peter W. Higgs.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine went to Mr. James E. Rothman, Mr. Randy Schekman and Mr. Thomas C. Südhof

The 2013 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel went to Mr. Eugene F. Fama, Mr. Lars Peter Hansen and Mr. Robert J. Shiller

After the ceremony, the royal family, the Nobel Prize winners, and hundreds of guests attended the traditional Nobel Prize gala banquet held at the Stadshuset in Stockholm.

Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium Views the Exhibition, Henry van de Velde: Passion – Fonction – Beauté.

MathildeOn December 10, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived at the Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire in Brussels to view the exhibition, Henry van de Velde: Passion – Fonction – Beauté.

Organized by the Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire in collaboration with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar the exhibition is a:

“…chronological survey of the life and work of this multi-facetted artist, based on a never previously seen assembly of works of art and a multitude of documents, including photographs and letters.”

The exhibition will be open to the public until January 12, 2014.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Opens the New Barnardo’s Headquarters. (VIDEO)

On December 10, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall officially opened the new Barnardo’s children’s charity headquarters in Barkingside.

After the opening Her Majesty and the duchess met with staff, toured the new facility, and “…helped to decorate a Christmas tree with a pair of specially-made royal baubles…” according to ITV News.

Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias Presides Over the Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes. (VIDEO)

On Tuesday, December 10, Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias presided over the Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes held at Palacio Real de El Pardo in Madrid. 

According to the Spanish royal court this award recognizes:

“…individuals and organizations that have excelled in the field of artistic and cultural creation or have rendered notable service in the promotion, development and dissemination of art and culture and conservation of artistic heritage.”

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall Welcomes Home the 4th Battalion, The Rifles.

camillaOn Monday, December 9, 2013, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall arrived at the Ward Barracks in Bulford, Wiltshire to welcome home the 4th Battalion, The Rifles “…who have recently returned from Afghanistan…” according to Clarence House.

During today’s event the lovely duchess presented Operational Service Medals to the soldiers.
