Monaco Princely Wedding: 22 Reigning Royal Families to Attend?

According to the newspaper, Monaco-Matin, 22 reigning royal families from all over the world have confirmed their attendance to the upcoming princely wedding in Monaco on July 1 and 2, 2011 “There will be 22 heads of states or represented, and 22 families ruling royal or princely families…”

These confirmations were, well, confirmed by Paul Masseron, the Government Minister for the Interior in Monaco.  Furthermore, it was announced that, “…French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni have been invited. But, the Elysee has not yet sent an answer” said Paul Masseron.   Unfortunately, Mr. Masseron did not state which royal families accepted their invitations; however, we do know that the crown princely couple from Norway, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje and H.R.H. Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, and the entire Swedish royal family have confirmed their attendance to the princely wedding.

Finally, Mr. Masseron noted that sixteen non-reigning royal families will also attend including Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia (source).

Interesting.

On May 14, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and his fiancée, Charlene Wittstock, were in Menton, France to participate in the inauguration of the Potager des Princes (Princes Vegetable Garden) at the Palais Carnolès.

The purpose of this event was to re-introduce original vegetables and rare varieties into the garden at the Palais Carnolès which was once a “… summer residence of the Princes of Monaco.”  After the ceremony the couple attended an official luncheon at the Palais Carnolès with several dignitaries and VIP guests.   To view current photos from today’s event please click the link here.   To watch a video clip of the couple during today’s inauguration please click the link here.  To learn more about the Jardin du Palais Carnolès please click the link here.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Chillin’ in Arles, France

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco has been a busy little beaver these past few weeks and this afternoon, May 12, there was no time for rest and relaxation.  The prince was in Arles, France to “…attend the arrival of the Canigou Flame during the European congres of traditions and Saint-Jean Fire…”  He also had a chance to visit the Arles Antique Museum.

Cool.

Anyway, according to various reports the prince did something else whilst in the lovely town of Arles; however, the details will probably bore you to death when you read it… so I’ll spare you.  Basically, he had a great time. And, the townspeople loved him.

Meanwhile, Prince Albert’s lovely fiancée, Miss Charlene Wittstock, did not accompany him to Arles.  It is unknown why Miss Wittstock did not attend this event; however, I believe that she may be making final arrangements for the upcoming princely wedding (which is less than 50 days away from now, people.)   🙂

Fourth, regarding the issue international broadcasting of the princely wedding to those living outside of Monaco and France.  According to the press release:

As host broadcaster, R&G Productions will also be in charge of supplying any additional technical resources and services requested by international broadcasters present at the event, as well as managing and catering for broadcasters with their own production and transmission resources at the TV compound.

Now, it was nice of the Palais Princier de Monaco press office to finally tell us (those interested in the upcoming wedding) who will host the broadcast; however, it really doesn’t help much to be honest.

Finally, according to the French newspaper, Nice-Matin, Miss Wittstock will have six bridesmaids and two groomsman all of whom are, “…the children of Monaco and the surrounding communities (Cap d’Ail, la Turbie, Menton, Beausoleil, Peille Roquebrune), accompany the couple.”

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Honors the Military Guards of La Force Publique

On May 11, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco participated in a well-known event “… honoring the military guards of La Force Publique…”   This ceremony, which was held in the courtyard of the Palais Princier de Monaco, essentially honors the members of His Serene Highness’s Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers and Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince (those who serve him and his country.)

The prince looked all spiffy in his military uniform as he smiled from ear to ear whilst walking past the current members of the Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers and Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Meets with Various Officials and Remains Bored While Doing So

Hot off his trip to sexy Brazil, on May 10, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco had an arduous and otherwise boring day filled with official duties.

So what did he do? Well, he met with three VIP officials, from around the world, whereupon each of them presented the prince with letters of credence at the Palais Princier de Monaco.

First, he met with Kornelios Korneliou from Cyprus.  Then, he met with Francisco Galindo Velez from El Salvador. And, finally he met with Michel Robitalle, Quebec’s Delegate General.

After meeting with each of these VIP men, there was boring small talk and smiles for the press.  Then H.S.H. Prince Albert invited each of the men — separately — into the palais’ drawing-room where each man had a one-on-one discussion about important matters… like who they believe will be the Eurovision 2011 winner.

I’m kidding.  They most likely discussed economic and bilateral relations.
